Apple Home Invites Not Being Received

Every time someone like G_Wood posts steps that result in a successful invite, I very carefully follow the approach. I really thought this might be the time—G_Wood was so explicit in instructions. Nope, nope, nope! Totally frustrating. Home Pod Mini is a cute little paperweight. Air Play works with it sporadically.

I had the same issue. After being on the phone with Apple Support and trying stuff, I finally fixed it. I had an update to new architecture pop-up that I couldn't complete. But after I removed my two og big HomePods from my home, it worked. I was able to run the update to the new architecture. I still had my HomePod mini connected.

Upgrade broke all my automation. To fix this they say delete the home and start again.

I've done that, but now I can't get anyone in my family to be able to switch on lights.

I hope a fix is coming soon as I've had about enough of Apple and HomeKit.

I also moved from an iPad to an AppleTV thinking my home would be more responsive etc… and it is.. but now my wife cannot receive the invite. To delete/reset the home from my end also is not a good option.. it would take days to setup again… it’s sad that something has not been figured out yet.

I fixed also. After an Apple Support call that didn't fixed nothing, I did this:

I disconnected/removed my stereo pair original big HomePods. When I did that I was able to update everything else (HomePod Mini..?) to the new Home Architecture. After that update I was able to send invites to the hom that directly came thru. Added new family members to both homes without problems. The second home invite came in as unknown invite, but nonetheless it worked.

After that I added the old big OG HomePods again without any problems so far, like a week or so?

Problem now apparently is that the update to new home architecture is not available. If Apple will let us know when that update is available, perhaps more of us may be able to accept an invite from the HomePod mini.

When I has the problem it also seemed that the updates weren't available until I reset and uninstalled my original big HomePod's after which the update came thru. After the update I could invite again and after that I installed the HomePods again without problems.

The post below by marco202 solved it for me. Ran the profile on my fiancé's phone and it removed the old house and reset it, and she was immediately able to get an invite to the home. No need to redo my entire house on my phone. Simple and fast. Thanks for the heads up!

Update ALL of your devices to latest OS, then use HomeKit Reset Profile on device not getting the invites, delete invite first, restart device and try again.

What worked for me…

after I reset with the config file from Apple, i was having issues adding Hue lights. Well got that figured out now the invite!!! You have to make an Apple TV 4th gen or later or a home pod your “home hub” to invite people to it. I did that with a quick google search and then added my wife and could invite again. Obviously their security update makes you buy more of their products haha. Hope this helps!!

I'm experimenting the same issue. All devices updated to the latest iOS version, but no one isreceiving the invitations...

I'm not very confortable in trying random links and reset the configurations, that has been one for a couple of years, so I'm hopping a direct solution from Apple to this issue: no one at my family network is receiving invitations to HomeKit.

I HAVE THE FIX (AT LEAST FOR ME)

In the home settings of the person that is trying to send the invite there is an automatic updates button.

Click on it and look for HomePod updates if you use that as your home hub.

Make sure that updates complete (16.6 I believe) and then ensure the new Home app architecture update is installed and follow ALL prompts till it is complete.

Resend to user that needs invite and then it should be in their home settings bubble in the top right.

Strange thing happened. I tried all the steps in the discussion but nothing happened. Oddly, I was going through my wife's phone when I noticed that in family sharing, I was being shown just with my email and not by my name. Upon checking, she just had my phone number in her contacts and not my email address which is my actual appleId. Once I added my appleid (email) to her contacts under my name, my name showed up in her family sharing settings and in a few mins when I deleted the Home invitation and resent her, it popped up instantly. Once I accepted from her phone, it took a few mins but everything started working. Not sure if it had anything to do with the actual solution but at least now it's working for me.

This issue arose after an iOS update and appears to be software-related. The above discussions describe unsuccessful attempts to fix the problem. I would hold off reinstalling the Home app - in my case it would take hours to add and configure multiple accessories and set up all my automations and scenes - with no guarantee that it will work.

Happened on my wife's iPhone (iOS 17). Thought this was going to be a huge issue.

But first thing I tried was Reset Network Settings and that worked!
