I just reset our Apple Homepods but when I go to invite the rest of my family they do not receive the invitations? I have updated the software on their phones and everyone is running the latest iOS versions. I have cancelled the invitation and tried reinviting them and still they receive nothing. What can I do to fix this? Why do they not give the option to send invitations by iMessage or email?
Apparently this procedure posted on Reddit solved the problem!!!
Putting it here in case this may be useful for others too.
I did it the RESET only on my wife iPhone (not mine which is the home owner).
Before this, I also "removed" the home app from my wife phone and re-installed it back.
Then applied the profile reset below.
After some minutes of waiting, the invitation was received and she was able to join the home again.
download and launch the HomeKit reset profile Safari on both mobile devices (looks like they change the link periodically, so be advised link may be dated): http://appldnld.apple.com/iOSProfiles/HomeKitReset.mobileconfig (note: you can try first on just the one device and avoid full reset, but I was forced to do both devices)
install the profile on both devices then go to settings to install the profile per these instructions: Install a configuration profile on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
restart both devices (may be optional, but doesn’t hurt)
go to settings and scroll down. You should now see a “Home” icon to open then select to “Reset Configuration.” WARNING: this wipes out all your HomeKit accessories and settings. You will need to start over.
open HomeKit app on both devices. They said to leave app open for 10 minutes, but mine reset in a minute. This should force reset your configuration keys.
to test, I added a single HomePod mini to a new Home and then invited spouse. She accepted easy breezy.
It took over a month to get through support to this solution. Hope it saves someone some time and frustration. Good luck!

I'm getting totally dumb founded why it works for some users but not all.... I send Invitation from my iPhone 13 Pro ( iOS 16.3.1 ) to my iPhone 10 running iOS 16.3.1 still NOT ABLE to receive the invitation after trying all kind of suggestions in this threat... however I can receive the new Invitation in the old Home App running on my iphone 6 ( iOS 12.5.7 ) !
It’s not available to upgrade, it still says ”:We temporarily removed the option to upgrade to the new Home architecture. The option to upgrade will return soon. If you already upgraded, you are unaffected by this change”

Only some people upgraded while it was available, or only some of their devices installed it.
This issue arose after an iOS update and appears to be software-related. The above discussions describe unsuccessful attempts to fix the problem. I would hold off reinstalling the Home app - in my case it would take hours to add and configure multiple accessories and set up all my automations and scenes - with no guarantee that it will work.
I did all the same trouble shooting + these additional items but still am not receiving invites.

Apple please, this is frustrating. How come no fix has been provided, even when this issue has been around for a while now.
Same for me… iOS 12.5.7 is receiving invitation from iOS 16.3.1. But between iOS 16.3.1 it is not working.
Yes... the 16.4 iOS Update fixed the problem... !
Been having the same issue and according to this thread it’s still an issue dating back to January so I am going to the Apple Store and will see what happens
No, I already tried that a week ago and it did not work. I have tried everything reasonable that I have found on the Apple support communities, the subreddits r/HomePod and r/HomeKit, and still invitations do not work.
Bad news... after some time (30 min++), both my wife and daughter home app is not working again. The shared home disappeared (again), and both cannot receive invitation (from me and other people). And both cannot send invitation from the empty home they have.
I've really no clue...
I give up.
My whole house is using Homekit as a front-end for automations.
The whole system is unstable for two years now and every iOS update I keep my fingers crossed and hope that bugs are fixed... but unfortunately in vain.
An example: I have an automation that when me or my wife arrive home, the gate needs to open. In literally 90% of the cases Homekit is unresponsive and nothing happens. I need to close the whole app and after a restart and after 1-2min Homekit is able to reconnect. Pretty frustrating.
The amount of time I have spent with reviewing my network, buying a different router, etc... the problem is that all my other services work 100% of the time on any type of router, within my network and also from outside my network.
This one now is the drop.. in the never ending struggle to make HomeKit a workable system I moved it from an always plugged in iPad pro to my apple TV. Hoping this could be the magic solution... only to encounter that my wife is now not able to use HomeKit.
I am using Node-Red as the main component in my house (bridged to HomeKit), and I have started to build a GUI using the Node-Red dashboard. Remote access to the dashboard is possible using the "Remote-Red" app.
Opening the gate will be done using IFTTT or Google Home.
Rather than spend my time on trying to fix HomeKit, I will put my energy in building a beautiful tailor made GUI.
I wish you all the best of luck with HomeKit, but after a long struggle I need to say farewell :-)
