Apple Home Invites Not Being Received

I just reset our Apple Homepods but when I go to invite the rest of my family they do not receive the invitations? I have updated the software on their phones and everyone is running the latest iOS versions. I have cancelled the invitation and tried reinviting them and still they receive nothing. What can I do to fix this? Why do they not give the option to send invitations by iMessage or email?

Same issue here. 16.2 completely removed a family member from the Home. Trying to invite them back does nothing; the invitation just shows as pending.

I spent an hour with a senior advisor who could not figure out the issue. Obviously something is broken on Apple’s end and they won’t admit it.

Getting mine to work involved a few extra steps beyond what was in that article. The config completely wiped my home kit settings, obviously. But what it didn’t say is you have to attach your home kit hub again from scratch (or Apple TV or Home Pod). That was the next step needed before I could invite my wife to the network. So after that it did work, and I consequently rebuilt all the HomeKit devices from scratch which was annoying but necessary. Now everything works as it should for me.

Thanks for the update... This is a step I was very reluctant to try... I had too many devices attached on my HomeKit, some devices and programmed scripts are connected to third party Hub like Alexa, Lutron and Philips Hub...etc ... That will be a MAJOR Task to reprogram and start all over !

Thnx so much though for your feedback.

This worked for my BUT... I had to make sure the iCloud Drive accounts were ON for each person on their devices and that specifically the HOME was toggled on. Another thing would be to check for the home invite on their Mac/iPad etc as it does not seem to always arrive on all devices. Accept the invite on the device and it will update to all other devices they own that has iCloud Drive toggled on.

So to be sure,

You followed the install, delete, restart on all /accounts if not each device of that "profile apple" link above and then made sure all your parties have iCloud and the sub Home tab "ON" (on all their devices) before trying to share? You then checked on all their devices for the invite (as it seems to only arrive on one, not all of their devices)? They are using only one iCloud account (separate from yours) and you are messaging that email account when inviting them? Are you family sharing? - That may be the difference between you and my set-up. I am family sharing with them prior. Also wait/give a few min between steps cannot hurt, make sure all devices are updated to latest operating systems and make sure the devices do not have Do not disturb ON or notifications turn OFF.

I had the same problem and here is how I fixed it.

On your iPhone or iPad open the HomeKit app, tap the more button then select Home Settings. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and select Remove Home.

Once you have removed the Home delete the app from your device and the device of the second user being invited. Power off and back on both devices then reinstall the HomeKit app on both.

You will now need to setup your home and add all your accessories to your home again.

Now you should be able to invite the second user again.

Appreciate the Update ! At least we know that it's being worked on. I have some older iPlugs that are no longer support by iHome, removing it Off the Home App will be permanently disengaged from Home APP & not longer to install them into Home App again... the Belkin SmartPlugs don't seems to work well... keep dropping off in my network..

Resetting the Home App completely will be a massive upgrade of devices and reprogramming .. not sure how other devices will continue to work ...

I have the same issue, it’s very irritating to spend money on tech that doesn’t work as intended. It’s even more irritating to learn you’re not alone and the manufacturer isn’t doing anything to address it. I’ve had my fair share of bad experiences with Apple lately, from a bad return to not processing my order and having to constantly reach out to them…I am returning this POS and buying a non apple speaker.

This is what worked for me:

Make sure (iPhone A) and (iPhone B) are on the same WiFi network and the same iOS.

Within the Home app, completely remove existing home settings from (iPhone B) like the screen grabs above. The welcome screen will appear to set up a new home. Do not tap continue.

Next on (iPhone A), in home settings, change the name of your home. Example: HouseofWood to Woodhouse.

Now invite (iPhone B).

(iPhone B) should still be on the welcome screen and a pop up should appear asking if you would like to join "Woodhouse".

Hope that helps.
