how eject disc from apple usb superdrive????
MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.13
ok. have you checked your finder preferences?
if you go to finder preferences, in the "General" tab and see if "CDs, DVDs, and iPods" is selected? does the disc appear on your desktop? if yes, drag it to the trash to eject the disc.
if not, go back to finder preferences, in the "Sidebar" tab under "locations"and ensure that "CDs, DVDs, and iOS Devices" is selected.
and there should be an "eject" button in the finder sidebar.
well those screenshots are from Ventura, so that is what you should see. are you looking for them I the right spot? use Apple Menu > Finder > Settings?
and since you cannot find the drive (with a disc inserted) either on the desktop nor in finder, you may have a faulty drive. because I know for a fact that there are many users here that are successfully using superdrives with their M1 (M2) Macs.
this usually works to eject a "stuck" disc. first power down your Mac. then press the power button to turn the Mac back on. and then immediately press and hold the mouse button (or the equivalent on a MacBook) until the disc pops out.
Jeff, no dice. I talked to Apple. They said my MacBook M1 is not compatible with the USB Superdrive. However, it took my disc and now it is stuck. Taking to Apple store today so I can return the piece of junk they sold me.
then you spoke with someone who was mistaken. many users are using their superdrive with both intel and M1 (M2) Macs. when connected direct, they work fine. and this also applies to Macs running Ventura.
how is the superdrive connected to the Mac?
Jeffrey, thanks for all your good work. I'm running Ventura so my settings menu it very different. I did however check the box to see external discs and DVDs. I can see, and always could, my two external Seagate hard drives but NOT the DVD player/burner. Also, there is no ejection button on my side bar.
Yes, I found it all. It is the same, in retrospect, the screenshot looked different. I have all the proper boxes checked but I do not see the superdrive on finder, still. I have an appointment the the Apple store genius bar in a couple of hours. I'll take the hardware and let them figure it out. I'm at a loss. Again, thanks.
<< I have all the proper boxes checked but I do not see the superdrive on finder >>
the DRIVE itself is Never shown in Finder.
Only the Mounted Volume, that is: Drive with a CD/DVD inside that macOS has recognized and Mounted.
a drive that holds a 'stuck' CD is also not likely to show up in Finder.
FYI, the problem was with my adapter. It was not an apple adapter, and apparently didn’t have all the pins. Purchased Apple adapter it all works. Crazy!
Jeff, it is connect directly with an adapter (not hub), as we discussed before. As I said, it took the disc in and it played perfectly until I tried to eject. Could not find an eject function.
you're welcome. sorry I couldn't help you find the solution.
It played. Then stuck. No clear way to even attempt to eject. I’m at Genius Bar now
