Airpods Pro 2nd gen case battery drain

It didn’t take 30 hours but it was probably close! I did have a dedicated device playing l music until they died. I agree that it’s ridiculous that we have to do all this to make them work but I want them to work so I’m willing to work on figuring it out! So far this seems like my best solution.

Yes im also testing with everything on like they should be. Up until this post 6:27 AM my time, im reaching about 12 hours on 88% on the case. So it seems like its working properly. Lets cross out fingers.

Yeah, mines just dropped 1% since yesterday around 6pm, its 2pm the next day. So, 1% in more than 22 hours is pretty decent. Its obvious it has tu drain some battery with all the find my features, but 25% in 24 hours was really massive.

So how is it going for you? As far as I can tell, case drops 2% within 24 hours. Thats pretty decent given im 80-90% of the time next to my airpods and the connection to my phone is always active and showing battery percentage, that must drain minimum battery. Im happy with these results

Yes the drain seems to be fixed for sure. But im having to issues, one is old and another one is new (new to me) the first one is that the percentage to the case on the settings, it disappeared again, no more battery percentage to the case, that problem was there and it seemed it got fixed with the update, buy now itd back. 2. Is now my airpods are not charging to 100%, they get stuck at 99%. Its not a big issue but its still a bug, not sure if both issues are related. Im going to drain my airpods and fully charge them to see if it fixes anything.

Why is mine dropping more then I wonder. As I say, I checked last night and was showing 100%. After taking the AirPods out of case, the case dropped 2% in about 10 mins. I then put AirPods back in (they were still showing as 100%). Then this morning I checked and it went from 98% to 86% overnight.

then dropped another 3% when pods in case and left at home for about 9 hours.

just don’t really know what’s normal. Have I got a bad pair as I’ve only had them for a week and they are brand new.

I did wonder about this but I’ve reseated them and made sure they are in the case and charging so all seems ok there.

again over night (6-7 hours), case dropped 5 percent battery again.

I know before the update this was an issue with people but mine is up to date and I have also switched off ‘find my’.

my partners AirPod case bought at same time are only using a percent or 2 each day. So unsure why mine is draining more. Is it just hit and miss?

Ah you maybe right actually. I think I’ve just been doing the forget device and I then restart phone and start pairing process again.

so what I need to do then is hold the button on back until the light comes on and then pair again with phone. Do I need to forget device first on phone first?

yeah, the AirPods are on 5E133.

does the full reset often help with bugs like these?

Ok looks like your help and suggestions may have worked 😃. Went to bed with case showing at 57% charge and woke up and it’s still showing 57%. I’ve left on find my etc this time as well so hoping the reset sorted it all. 🤞 fingers crossed.

I have also very big problem with my AirPods Pro 2 because I had it approximately 2 weeks and battery is terrible….Apple promise up to 30 hours of listening music but my AirPods play music maximum for 17 hours … so I think it’s terrible..and battery percentage I can’t comment because it’s also one big fail. When I open case on my AirPods they show percentage but on my iPhone I also have a widget with that AirPods and they also shows AirPods percentage but for every time it’s different!!! For example when I open my case on AirPods I have 86% of battery but in settings it’s just different. And for 270€ AirPods it’s just big fail and I don’t know what with them now. I want new one because this experience it’s until now terrible…

I can confirm that what frustratedcstmr says does work, well at least it did for me anyway as mine have been fine since following these steps and case etc holds charge and only goes down a percent or 2 every couple of days if not used.

one thing I do get though is that when just playing music (no mic etc involved or calls etc) the right AirPod seems to still lose charge more rapidly than left. When at 74% on left, the right is down to 67% etc. I understand that if using mic etc it will bring down one more than other but I don’t use mic and only listen to music so unsure why they aren’t losing charge about the same. Any ideas?

Maybe this is it then. They are both charging fine and both start on 100% but the right always seems to discharge slightly quicker than the left. Anyone else get this as well (when listening to music only and not calls etc?)

Anyone know what this update does or fixes?

prior to the update. I noticed my AirPods case losing charge again. Held at around 100% for almost 4 days but then yesterday when I checked it said 95% and within an hour dropped to 89%.

I’ve now updated and reset again so hoping all good.

one thing I wondered, if checking the find my app on iPhone, would this cause battery drain on the case, as it’s checking the location of the devices?

i am having the same issue. i bought my airpods in March. now is May. in the first months there is no issue at all. however, in the last week, i have the same issue. the airpods case battery drained out very fast. it was 94% at 8 o clock in the morning. at 5 pm, it become 42%. (i put my airpods once i have a lunch.) i have already remove the case. yet, it didn't solve the problem. pls fix this! thank you

yeah got the same issue. my case dropped 20% just for charge the buds 5-10%

but at some point when i charge the buds from 0-100%, the case just dropped 20% (as apple advertised)

so it's kinda confusing
