Every once in a while, i will be in iMessage and will get a low toned “doo-doon” sound come from my phone despite my phone being on mute. It’s usually when I enter a chat with someone or go into or out of the information page. This only started with ios16 launch a few months ago. Anyone experience this or know what it is?

I totally forgot to post when I figured out how to fix it! Go to your settings, then messages, then toggle off the “raise to listen” option. When you raise your phone, it’s attempting to start recording a voice message to insert into the text. Those steps completely solved the issue. Goodluck! 😊
I have the same noise that plays in iMessage too, it’s not a notification & it just randomly happens. My biggest fear is someone hacking into my phone bc why is it that no one knows what the sound is. Could that be a possibility? my heart literally stops when I hear it bc I don’t have an explanation so I worry it’s someone hacking into the phone. Idk.
This happens with mine as well, even in DND mode. I’m wondering if it’s somehow a notification letting us know that the persons message we have open is looking at the message or has the chat open? Although it’s happened for iPhone and android users I’ve been texting. I’m thinking both users are in the message? But who knows 🤷🏼♀️
I think that it isn’t associated with the person you are sharing your location with, as I have stopped sharing my location, and it still happens. I am thinking that as users, we text the people we share our location with, more often than others, and that’s just where we notice it happening.
Not really. It’s an unusual noise, not one that normally comes out of my phone. The same noise happens when I’m on Facebook or just browsing online. Only then the screen goes blank for a split second. The only way I can describe it is that it’s (not me) like it’s taking a screenshot

My goodness I thought I was going crazy!!!! I don’t have peace just yet bc I’m still not sure why this happens and I’m not sharing my location with anyone other than my daughter and it happens with most anyone, but I feel better knowing it’s not just me and I’m not going crazy lol.

I’ll have to start paying more attention to that and see. Either way it still makes no sense why this noise is coming up when my sound is off.
I’m so happy that I’m not nuts! I’ve been hearing it, too! With sound off. Starting to think I was hacked until I found this thread
