iPhone Making Random Noise in iMessage with Sound Off

Seems like there’s a wave of Thai happening in the last month or so. Mine just started doing it today. Same way, in the messages app almost rite as I send the message/after I hit send. IB heard it 3 times already and it’s a DUUDUU kinda deep sound. My phone is on silent, i dont use location stuff or share it in messages. So, let’s try to figure out what we all have in common in our messages app. I’m on iPhone 14pro1tb. I have old message si haven’t deleted, and I always leave the app open. I just restarted my phone for the first time in maybe a month.

I don’t have raise to listen on or anything like that. I’ve checked every single sound I’ve attached to anybody any contact any anything email anything it’s none of them and it does also only happen. It seems like to certain people and it has nothing to do with sharing contacts don’t share my location with anybody.

Were you able to find information on this? I’m experiencing the same thing and no one seems to know what I am talking about

Aaaahhhh! I am not alone! I have been scouring the internet looking for an explanation. My fellow confused “doo-doon” hearing iPhone users, I hope we can get to the bottom of this.

I think i have the same problem! i hear a low toned doo-doon sound when i'm not sending or receiving a text. it typically happens when i'm hovering over a conversation or idling in the messages app.

Yea it just means we are both in the chat. It’s an error they need to fix because it’s like a notification but it’s happening on silent too. “Do-doon” is the best way to describe it. Lol

Front or back camera? I’m trying to recreate this on my phone. It happens to me randomly and drives me crazy

I believe that those whom this is did not solve the issue have a completely separate thing going on. I would check into apps that are sending you notifications.

I too have tried to find the words to explain this and everyone just thinks I’m nuts or thinks I’m stupid and talking about my incoming text tone 😭 I was wondering if it’s telling you that you are both looking at the chat? That’s my only guess. I’m so glad I finally googled and found this forum. I was about to give up because everything was about turning off your text tone. We need an answer!

YES this is happening to me too! It’s the strangest thing, no rhyme or reason to it but it feels like it’s when I open into a text window in iMessage. Usually the same noise you’re all describing but just now it made a totally different one for the first time—more electronic than the first.

After reading all the comments, this is exactly what is happening to my phone. The first time it happened my phone screen went blank. It just happened back to back, but the screen didn't go blank this time. I keep my phone on silent and I am still hearing this noise. I cannot find an iPhone alert sound that sounds even remotely close to the noise my phone makes. This only started with the new update.

Same here! Only on a contact I share location services with. I wonder if this is some sort of privacy issue and that’s why apple is refusing to acknowledge it? I have no idea. I’ve tried to screenrecord it to show someone, but it does not record in the screen recording.
