after upgrading to Ventura 13.1 external display resolution menu has only default resolution (too small) and low resolution options

same, I am also on an UW monitor 3840 x 1600 for my 2018 Mac Mini i5. They simply got rid of the scale resolution setting. I hope they upgrade this soon. My temporary fix is going with 3200 x 1334 (low resolution) and it's FOR SURE low resolution. This really sucks!

Looks like that article uses a script to manually enable HiDPi mode. Script can be found at https://raw.githubusercontent.com/xzhih/one-key-hidpi/master/hidpi.sh I haven't ran this script, so I can't vouch whether it will fix our issues or not. It would be nice if Apple just allowed for HiDPI again.

I agree with the part where this requires more knowledge on scripting and especially reading the code before running it in your computer.

Hopefully Apple realised this is a problem that's very frustrating as some of us have bought expensive monitors for work or gaming.

Same problem here with MacBook Pro 16" 2019 and Samsung Ultrawide 5120x1440. After Apple Support Chat recommended to try the typical generic troubleshooting (which didn't help at all) someone called me back who said, that they are aware of this problem and the developers will fix it within the next update. This was german Apple support. So they do know about it yet still some of our time will be wasted by support because obviously not all of their support staff knows of the problem or are not able to do some internal research before wasting our time with reinstalling macOS?

The most surprising for me is how slow is Apple in fixing bugs or errors in the OS. People have to look for third-party apps as a solution. This is not accessible. Must say Microsoft in this case is much more reactive and quicker. I cant use my external screen as my eyes will get f.......ed looking at small things.

Same problem here. Its very annoying. Every update you have to learn the basics of the macos ui again and some developers or fancy managers decide that the functionality you used for years will not be a part of mac os anymore.

nightmare. same thing. upgraded today and boom, all low resolution options for my Dell U4919DW. going to try reverting back to the previous update if possible. can't work with the default as its too small and everything else is blurry AF.

This is really annoying! I used glasses to see the scaled version and it worked fine for my vision. But after updating to 13.1 my LG 38" widescreen resolution is tiny! I can't see anything!

one temp fix for me at least, is to use the default resolution (albeit small) and simply increase the fixed zoom on your browser (ex. i changed my chrome to 125%) which is better than nothing for now.

I have been suffering with this issue since updating to Ventura 13.1 and was hoping it would be resolved in the Ventura 13.2 update, but sadly nothing was fixed and it is still happening in 13.2. It is surprising that a company that prides itself in caring about accessibility would release two software updates that prevent users with external displays from enlarging font size at all.

I made a similar new post regarding missing not fixed scaling options for external monitors and my post was deleted by the admins :D apple censoring people frustration of them selfs being incapable to fix the big issue. Shame on them im back on windows 11.

Ok, so i just ran into this youtube video on a temporary solution to get your resolutions to support HiDPI.

Although, this one is specific to the LG monitors (4k). This did the fix for me after 3 months of various troubleshooting.

This is a nightmare. I just updated to Ventura 13.1 and can barely read text on my monitor. You have single handedly lost me a day of productive work and then some. Shame on you #Apple for not fixing this bug. After 15 years as a devoted apple user, this may lead me back to a PC

This fix is bull......t. In my case I have HiDPI resolutions offered that start half of the original resolution and go down, even if I pick the highest HiDPI everything on the screen is way too big it makes everything 50% bigger what is too much while you need 15-25% scale so this is crap crap crap not a solution.
