Hi,
after upgrading to Ventura 13.1 my external display (Dell U49) has only default resolution with retina support (HiDPI). Everything looks small. It also doesn't have any scaling options.
how can I fix it?
P.S. before upgrade it has 3360:944 (HiDPI) option.

As far as I'm aware they do know about the problem. I talked to german support via phone (in december) and he said that he already knows about this and that they are already working on a fix. But who knows when and if they will ever fix this.
I was able to fix this issue for my 5120x1440 monitor with Better Display (https://github.com/waydabber/BetterDisplay): I had to hit these buttons under settings and after a reboot I had all the HiDPI resolutions I ever wanted... not in system settings though but in the Better Display menu. But once set you don't need to run Better Display in the background and it looks like it doesn't have any overhead like Better Dummy. Currently working on 4096x1152 which is the equivalent to Windows 125% scaling. Even on a 110dpi screen this looks great and from a performance standpoint runs perfectly well on my 2019 MacBook Pro with two external monitors attached. I really don't get it why apple doesn't enable these options by default.
same, I am also on an UW monitor 3840 x 1600 for my 2018 Mac Mini i5. They simply got rid of the scale resolution setting. I hope they upgrade this soon. My temporary fix is going with 3200 x 1334 (low resolution) and it's FOR SURE low resolution. This really sucks!
nightmare. same thing. upgraded today and boom, all low resolution options for my Dell U4919DW. going to try reverting back to the previous update if possible. can't work with the default as its too small and everything else is blurry AF.
i called support and they said "apple is aware" and will be working on the issue as others have called in...should resolve in a future update in "a few days". that seems ambitious.
mine issue is slightly different. the default resolution for me surely looks small. But I remember there was the 'text scale' bar I we can select and make the menu font / everything bigger, without compromising resolution? Now it's GONE???

Sorry about your res problem as I face the same issue. Please keep me posted if you hear from apple support as to a resolution to this problem. I count on my ultrawide screen for my work as well as functionality not to mention the cost of the LG monitor $$$$.
Yes, facing this issue as well with my MacBook Pro 2019.
Testet with two different wide monitors, HP Z38c and LG 38WN95C, both using HDMI adapter and USB-C directly, to no avail.
Also tried changing the resolution using BetterDisplay and SwitchResX, it simply does not change to a HiDPI display setting.
Im also suffering from the same issue, tried to restart but no difference; prior to the 13.1 update the resolution was working perfectly.
I have another Mac on 13.0 with the same external monitor and USB-C cable, and when I open the advanced settings the options are different:
I have the same issue after upgrading to Ventura 13.1 (earlier versions were fine). Text size is now very small on the external LG HDR WQHD with the default resolution. The other resolutions are just as small with poor resolution and no scaling. There is now seemingly no way to increase the text size on the external display which is very bad accessibility.
Text scaling on the built-in display works just fine as before, however.
I am also having issues with my 2018 Mac Mini i5. I just upgraded to MacOS Ventura 13.1. My monitor is an LG UW 3840 x 1600. Prior to upgrading, I was able to change the resolution scale, but not anymore. WTH Apple!?
The current 3840 x 1600 (default) resolution is too small. Any suggestions on temporarily fixing this instead of dropping it to 3200 x 1334 (low resolution)?

I agree with the part where this requires more knowledge on scripting and especially reading the code before running it in your computer.
Hopefully Apple realised this is a problem that's very frustrating as some of us have bought expensive monitors for work or gaming.
The most surprising for me is how slow is Apple in fixing bugs or errors in the OS. People have to look for third-party apps as a solution. This is not accessible. Must say Microsoft in this case is much more reactive and quicker. I cant use my external screen as my eyes will get f.......ed looking at small things.
Same problem here. Its very annoying. Every update you have to learn the basics of the macos ui again and some developers or fancy managers decide that the functionality you used for years will not be a part of mac os anymore.

This is really annoying! I used glasses to see the scaled version and it worked fine for my vision. But after updating to 13.1 my LG 38" widescreen resolution is tiny! I can't see anything!
