I followed advice from a user on Spectrum blog to change a setting on the AppleTV to; settings/video & Audio/Match Content/Range & Frame Rate. The problem has disappeared since then for 2 days now. Could be the solution or it could be that Spectrum developers (who were/are aware of the problem found a solution.

FWIW. I've seen 2 to 3 issues. Below, I've listed what worked for me.

Spectrum App freezing/buffering intermittently and voice synch off, requiring a force quit of the app and/or reboot of apple TV. Solution that worked for me was go into Apple TV settings, then VIDEO and AUDIO settings. scroll to MATCH CONTENT and change MATCH DYNAMIC RANGE to "ON". That cleared it for me.


Apple TV picture blurring Intermittently throughout streaming with multiple apps. I'm convinced the Wireless receiver in the Apple TV unit is the issue, as problem continued when I upgraded my older WiFI to a MESH system. Ping test and speed was 250 Mbps + and <23 ms, so more than adequate MY Solution: pulled the Netgear WiFi extender with ethernet port out of retirement. Plugged it into the nearest AC, where it registered to the new EERO Mesh wifi. Ran Ethernet cable to back of the Apple TV. Not a single repeat of the blurring other than the initial 2-3 seconds when changing channels.


NOTE: others have tried turning off WiFI on the TV itself and had success, assuming it was interfering with the Apple TV radio. But not all TV's will let you turn it off. OTHERS had success with upgrading HDMI cable if 4K capable.

The problem does not occur when using other apps directly for example ESPN or other news apps in my experience. I have tried all the solutions recommended. I found the solution. I installed other apps circumventing the spectrum app and watched tv- I don't experience the list of problems in this tread. I believe the problem is with spectrum app. In my opinion, the solution is to get HULU or some other streaming service with live tv. I am going to cancel spectrum tv and replace it with a streaming service app with live tv, add some sort of channel packages so I have everything I need, I believe from initial review it is also cheaper. BTW the video picture seems to be a just a little higher quality with the native apps.

MIGHT have found a solution. I had same issue. And no problems at all with other apps, while Spectrum app required force quitting and coming back to it several times per hour.

Went on a hunt, and I went to Apple TV settings

*Video and Audio

*Match Content


on a pure whim, i dug into that and it was OFF

I changed “match dynamic range“ to ON, and left “match frame rate“ off.


FWIW, I’ve been four days now without a single repeated instance. Crossing my fingers! Let us know if you try it and it helps.

I agree that the Spectrum app is the problem. I called Spectrum and insisted that a tech come out to look at what’s happening. The tech basically said that this is a known problem between Apple TV and the Spectrum app. He actually said “they aren’t compatible” What?! Why is Spectrum SELLING Apple TV’s to use with their app if they know it’s not compatible? The app developers need to figure this out!

Found the source of the issue. After multiple calls in a single day to spectrum, I was told by the spectrum agent it is a spectrum problem that has increased in volume and frequency recently. In particular in the last week. The problem has been escalated to a tech team specializing in this kind of issue. They will be reviewing and analyzing it and hopefully will find a solution. let's hope they do.

I have tried every response from every forum, ones from years back (saying to go to audio/visual settings and just reset or change to "auto" mode, basically toggle everything and try everything-- nothing worked), and tried the ones mentioned above, and as the others have reported, nothing has worked. Nothing. Additionally, as the others have said, the issue is 24/7 for me now. So much so that I cannot even watch live TV (Spectrum App)-- AKA what we are all paying a subscription for!


Another issue that started a few days ago, in addition to this audio/visual issue, is a problem that actually occurred over a year ago for me, in a different city, but using AppleTV Spectrum app. This problem is-- your AppleTV screensaver coming on (you notice silence all of the sudden) after only a few minutes of turning on your Spectrum Live TV. You then press a button, and the show you were watching comes right back on.


Last year, I went to the forums, they said this error occurs when you click on a "recent channel" versus clicking on the Spectrum app when on the AppleTV menu. Quick fix for me last year! Tried this solution now, and of course, no fix. Instead, the screensaver literally pops up after only 60 seconds.


So I have TWO unbearable problems that are unfixable for at least 5 weeks now with this app. No idea what to do after trying every avenue!!!
