iPhone 14 screen freezing during calls

My phone freezes while I’m talking on the phone. It’s been happening since I bought it in September. Anyone else experiencing this? Some of the things I’ve tried are numerous resets and gotten a new phone. I’ve been to Apple Store 4 times and called Apple support at least 5 times.

Same issue. Same phone. Have been trying to deal with Apple support since I got the phone back in October. Went through all the standard first level and second level tech support “fixes” with cumulatively probably 15 hours of calls. “Hard reset, must be a software issue with one of your apps, try a new device, try to setup as new, make sure you aren’t using any VPN software” all of which I have done. The replacement device did stop the problem for the longest period of time - which was nearly 2 months, but now it’s back. Latest senior rep, who was un-Apple like disrespectful, didn’t take the time to read the prior agents notes about the issue but basically said the same thing, try and do a hard reset but because the phone is now new, it’s clearly a software issue “with one of MY apps”. Very disappointed in company’s acknowledgement of issue and strategy to fix it. As one fellow user put it, the device does a lot of neat things we all appreciate, but when we aren’t able to use basic phone functionality - might be time to look for a different hardware provider unless someone in Apple senior leadership decides it’s a problem worth putting resources behind. Right now, we just aren’t a big enough voice for enough people to care - which is disappointing.


The strange thing is when I set up my replacement phone as new I only installed the apps that I absolutely needed and were so broadly used that any software issue would likely affect a much broader group, so that I could be sure it wasn’t a random app that was causing the issue but still the issue is presenting almost daily again - certainly daily whenever I have a bunch of calls - which is virtually everyday.


and don’t let them tell you that it’s likely a corrupted copy of your iCloud back up because I reinstalled each app from scratch and then did so over a hardwire connection as well.



I know I probably sound like just another disgruntled user, but if each call to Apple support did not take another 2 to 3 hours of time to complete and actually yielded some positive results. I probably would be a little less bitter.

Having the same issues, everytime I'm on a call it freezes. Literally only 1 month old and having issues like this. Considering going back to Samsung as never had this problem with any of my Samsung phones! It's very frustrating! Still I see no real fix has been suggested. Apple will there be an update to resolve this issues???

I have been on the phone to apple for like 2hrs as I have 2 x 14pro and 1 x 14 pro max. All have this issue. They are still trying to find out what the problem is.

they have just asked me who we use for our network… “Telstra” . Don’t see how this has anything to do with it. But worth putting it out it there. What networks are you using?

same issue i am facing.

i am having very good repo with apple product.

first i used iphone 5S ,then using iphone 12 fir wife and now i purchased iphone 14 but iphone 14 hang issue coming again and again when getting call and its ringing.

ringing screen hang and not able to swipe call button.

more precise i can say only with swipe screen .

screen with red and green button i do not see any issue.


either i need replacement or resolution.

please suggest.

My 14 Pro has been freezing with incoming calls for months. Can’t answer the call, can’t use any functions without restarting the iPhone. I can then use the iPhone without issues until another call comes in. It doesn’t happen every time, but it happens many times per day. I hate calling support because of the time and useless reboots, etc.

Remember when they denied updating the IOS caused faster battery drain or made the prior hardware releases slow to a crawl? If it wasnt affecting my life and business everyday it might be entertaining. Its not like we don't know how this ends. Hello MDL...

Same, My iPhone 14 and another family member’s 14 have repeatedly did this since the first week of purchase. Both are only approximately 3 months old. I called Apple support and it was recommended to restart the phone and install new software that has been released the prior day before the call. I have done both phones still continue to experience display freezing.

I also have the same issue with 60-70% of the time my phone freezes when I'm on a call when I have the phone to my ear. I am unable to do anything except press the side button to end the call I am on. Like many of you I spent many hours dealing with Apple Support and eventually got them to replace my device and I just got the new device and it's doing it as well.


They are trying to say this is software with one of our apps; however, don't they control these apps through the app store? Can't they figure out the issue if it's software related.


I have a feeling this is an endemic hardware failure of the 14 Pro Max and Apple doesn't want to deal.


Really disappointed!

I’ve had my IPhone 14 Pro Max since October of 2022. I noticed just after Christmas that if I was on a voice call that my phone screen would lock up. The only way to get it to unlock was to press the button on the right side of the phone, which of course disconnects the call. It wouldn’t happen every call but would happen quite frequently.

It hasn’t happened since the last update (16.4.1) but now I have to restart my phone every morning or I lose network connection. I disable wifi and even my carrier data won’t work. Once I restart the phone it connects again until the next morning.

I have the very same experience on my iPhone 14 Pro.

Since I changed my iPhone 13 Pro, it's an headache.

I tried everything (full reinstallation with icloud save), many diagnostic performed. Apple changed mine for a new one. Brand new, issue is still there. Unbelievable.

I asked the issue to be sent to the Apple engineers in the US, but I don't know what to expect.


Also (I do not know if there is a link) : My Linkedin App also freeze when I open the App and click on my profile to access to my companies' pages. Frozen. I cannot do anything. Linkedin works perfectly on my iPad pro 1st gen...

They know exactly what is going on. They do not have the answers. They will pass you onto people who say they are there to help you and will stick by you until it is sorted.

But there is no fix for your phone. There are many different variations of this problem that is affecting us.

don’t waste your time talking to apple, they have no fix yet. They say they think it is a software issue but I have my doubts. I have x3 14pros and they all have similar issues.

Apple will never admit to there being a problem.

notice that this is an apple discussion page. They know what we are all saying but none of them know how to fix the problem, so they ignore us.
