Yes. Contact Mazda. Report back what they say.

The SD card powers maps in the built in navigation system and the Mazdas that have a heads up display require the SD card insertion to see the automatic display of speed limits. It is located in the center console under the armrest next to the USB ports.

Hi! I am having the same issue, I saw on another forum that other people who were having the same issue bought a new SD card off of amazon/ebay for like 50 bucks. Problem is the links they posted the SD cards are no longer available. I refuse to pay 300+ for a new SD card when this is a clear mazda issue. I want install the apple card play but am wondering if I need the SD card in order for it to work? Does anyone know? If I don't then cool because I never use the mazda nav system anyways.

Unfortunately, I have this problem as well. I have a 2021 Mazda CX5 and went from an iPhone 12 to an iPhone 15 Pro max and it will not connect to CarPlay 90% of the time. What’s weird is it will connect to it probably 1 out of every 10 times. My iPhone 12 never had any issues. The Bluetooth says my Mazda is connected, and my Mazda says my phone is connected, but the CarPlay does not connect. I thought it was an adapter issue since the iPhone 15 uses a different USB cord than my iPhone 12, so I bought a USBC adapter and that didn’t help. I bought the android cord which fits the Apple 15 and that didn’t help. I am so frustrated. I am going to go to my local Mazda dealer and see what they have to say. if they give me any useful information, I will post it. I’m sorry everyone is having this issue but at least I know it’s not just me!

2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata with the CarPlay upgrade, same issue happening with iPhone 13 for at least the last year on official iPhone cable. Random disconnects from Mazda Connect. Please fix.

Do you have an SD inserted for GPS? In my case removing completely that SD fixed the issue of infotainment to stop working when no phone connected.

I have removed my SD card and this seems to have solved the rebooting problem on the Mazda infotainment system (2016 CX5). No other problems now.

I restored the Mazda system back to factory settings and it worked when I plugged it in again.

The infotainment/audio system in my new 2024 cx5 Signature Turbo is also glitchy.

Which is a shame because otherwise the car is great.

Don’t you need the SD card for navigation?
