Gapless looped playback not working after iOS/iPadOS 16.2 update

Just updated to iOS 16.3 on both phone and HomePod and everything works again! Just played one of my regular continuous mix albums from start to finish, flawless 👍🏼

It seems to be something to do with settings, music, Dolby Atmos on my iPhone iOS 16.4. Almost gapless listening to Abbey Road if Dolby Atmos is set to off, rather than automatic or always on

Tried it with the ‘Rain’ track on loop. Sometimes it looped seamlessly, other times there was a 0.5 second gap. I’m getting this all the time with DJ’d mix albums where it’s putting gaps in between mixed tracks and it’s very annoying.

Old thread I know, but replying here because this exact experience now happens once I updated to 16.3.1.

50% of the time it's gapless, 50% there is like a 1 second pause.

Super jarring for me personally as I listen to audio while sleeping (nature sounds like wind/waves/rain, etc. So that gap is very jarring).

Yup same issue here, was excited that lots of live sets have been added to Apple Music, but the seamless playback being broken makes the listening experience very jarring and not worth it. Made me cancel my subscription and go back to Spotify, at least they can develop a reliable app unlike Apple.

I just upgrade to 16.3.1 and now I'm getting inconsistent behaviour again. Right now, literally every other interation through a loop is gapless, while every other one has a pause.

Not sure what's going on now.

It's very noticeable to me, because I use my phone for some audio while I fall asleep (nature sounds like wind, waves, etc) and the loss of the gapless looping is super jarring.
