I’ve got an iMac running Ventura. I also have an Epson 4630 printer which I’ve been using for many years. Today I can no longer print. Printer states Encryption Credentials Expired. I’ve removed the printer and re added it as an AirPrint but it hasn’t fixed it. Any ideas how to fix this?

iMac 24″, macOS 13.0

Hopefully this works for you, it worked for me. Go to Apple: "system preferences" go to "printer and Scanners" Then left click on your printer and "reset printing system". Then click the + a the bottom to add your printer again. Add the printer by right clicking on the top one "Epson WF-4630 Series Bonjour Multifunction" on the bottom for Use: select "AirPrint" then to the bottom select "Add". Then it should work.

Update the firmware for this Epson Workforce WF-9610 if you’re not already running the most current firmware, and try again.

Failing that, reset the printer, and try again.

Downloads of docs, firmware: https://epson.com/Support/Printers/All-In-Ones/WorkForce-Series/Epson-WorkForce-WF-7610/s/SPT_C11CC98201

Reset network settings: https://files.support.epson.com/docid/cpd3/cpd39381.pdf starting around page 263. If that fails, reset all, and re-install the printer as new.

Tried ALL of the above and searched the net for more help but found none. Finally (after hours of frustration), the only thing that worked was downloading the 'Recovery Mode Firmware versions AD24J4'. I 'Reset Printing Systems' to remove the printer first, then downloaded the above from: https://epson.com/Support/Printers/All-In-Ones/WorkForce-Series/Epson-WorkForce-WF-7620/s/SPT_C11CC97201?review-filter=macOS+13.x

Worked immediately.

Success!!

I tried all of this for my MacBook Air, and finally reached out to my company's tech support. They gave these simple steps that worked and said that I needed to "add the printer by choosing a generic printer driver":

1. Open "System Preferences"

2. Click on "Printers & Scanners"

3. Click on the + icon on the left-hand side

4. Select your printer from the list, then click on the dropdown next to "Use" and click on "Generic PCL Printer" (I had to wait a couple seconds for this option to appear in the drop-down, it wasn't there at first)

5. Click "Add"

6. Test the printer to ensure that it is working

Their workaround is “don’t use AirPrint”. I would not encourage that as a solution.

Good advice, but you need to add that the IP address to enter in the browser is the IP address assigned to the printer on your local area network, not your computer's IP address!

I found my printer's IP from my router configuration page's device list, and then just entered http://<ip address> and then found the Epson printer web-admin interface that allowed me to update the certificate.

This really shouldn't be something you have to do on macOS....definitely not "novice user level" and very un-Apple like!
