Advanced Data Protection just spins and spins

I've tried enabling Advanced Data Protection from two different Macs; after I type in the recovery key, all it does is spin and spin until I get bored and Force Quit Settings. The one that's running now on this MBP has been running like this for about ten hours now:



Then what?


FWIW, I also had issues creating a recovery key on my iPad. Twice I tried and twice it refused to accept the key I typed back in as valid even though I checked/rechecked what I was typing multiple times. I only got *that* to work by doing it from a Mac instead.

You can try again at a later date and compare your results.


There are some known Apple server issues at this time, starting yesterday at 11:04 PM and on-going, that may or may not be related...
