iPhone SE (2020) right side of screen not responding to touch

Okay guys.

i fixed mine!!!!!! I sucked in air from the ear piece speakers. Sucked in really really hard. I know it sounds ridiculous. But my rightside and letter P is back!!! I really hope that this can help you guys too

Hold the phone with your left hand and swipe your right index finger from the camera towards you. It’s like pulling the corner. This gave me an instant fix. Try to do it at all 4 corners. I guess they made the phone so thin, it made the device so delicate to some pressure.

A simple work around to the right side ~1 cm being unresponsive… just turn the phone counterclockwise 90 degrees and type in landscape orientation. This puts the dead zone at the top, and all the letters work now. Time to have a ppppppppppppparty!

Yes. Replacing the screen solved the problem in my case.

I share the same experience, also on the right side of the screen. It is not traceable to any physical stress. For some days, the problem was only occasional, accompanied by locking screens and lag during touch inputs. During that period, I could restore the screen by deleting the Safari history and restarting the phone. This implies a correlation with the Safari app of some kind, as suggested by the member iphone_se_enthusiast. Now, the problem is permanent. I tried all restart, reset, and restore options, without luck.

Scroll-inputs in the dead zone work fine. Furthermore, I did run remote diagnostics with the Apple support. The Apple support staff on the phone suggested, that it appears to be a software issue. Hopefully fixable with an update?

Mine has the same problem and has seemed to be triggered by using non apple brand magsafe chargers. First happened with the otterbox magsafe car charger. Went on vacation and the screen magically started working again. Hadn't wanted to risk it again, but recently picked up a Belkin magsafe charger on prime day. Had it on for a couple hours and it happened again. It's been 4 days, and the screen worked again night before last, but then went out again. This could be all in my head and it's software version related, but seems connected. Still not able to use my screen at the moment. Pretty frustrating.

I had the screen replaced which helped me … so far. I read somewhere someone used a zoom out function to bypass the problem; I didn’t look that up though.

I’ve since resolved a red tint in an old iPad by simply wringing the iPad - grabbing it by both ends and pressing counterwise which took a literal second - and am wondering if that would have worked on this issue with my iPhone. Just thinking out loud but can’t test it anymore.

An update; my SE went back to normal a couple of days ago. It went well and been able to use it as usual. The only different thing I did that I think fixed the issue is when I plugged my phone on my laptop til it's fully charged. I am not sure what specifically happened there but I think there has been something going on with the power outlet you use to charge your phone. Just a speculation but mine went back normally after that, hopefully i don't get the same issue again anytime soon, I am done being frustrated.

it happened to me since yesterday,

as a workaround i use 2.5x zoom to ensure that my screen fits within the responsive area. it's exactly 1cm from right side corner too

Did you use a wireless charger or the Lightning cable?

I've seen a few youtube videos (like this one - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZP9hoLSrYg ) that purport to show how fix it by using a piezoelectric igniter out of a butane lighter ((no flame, and not a sparker with a flint. I suppose an empty barbecue butane lighter will work too) and clicking it near the edge of the screen.

Now, with a spark like that there will be a small burst of electromagnetic flux, possibly similar to the EM field of a wireless charger. It's a long shot and I'm just guessing, but there might be something to it.

Hard to believe, but this worked for me too. My screen dead spot was on the bottom left side of the screen. The a, z and shift keys never worked correctly for the past month or so. I just sucked air through the bottom of the speakers and lightning connector, and it is working perfectly for now.

I have got the same problem too. I started few days ago. I discharged my iphone completely and it started working well after this. But today it has started making trouble again.

Same here nothing works I have the exact!!!! Same issue!!!! I use one handed left side text. Updated my phone BOOM it happened I mean instantly! This was about 4 updates ago. O my….. goodness…. I can’t stand a single comment of restart my phone??? Or clean my screen??? Really how is that a response in 2023? Of course thats what we all do? Not only that here is the kicker when I go to delete the update IT WONT LET ME. So frustrated. New 1,000$ phone with 128 gig. And they think I’m gunna give more money to fix it? Nope. 🤦‍♂️😪 they need an update for this issue for the iPhone SE.
