iPhone SE (2020) right side of screen not responding to touch

The right side of my screen (around 1cm wide) suddenly stopped responding to touch. The phone has never been dropped or exposed to moisture. Forced restarting and even a full restore didn't fix the issue. See the attached screenshot where I tried to fill in a note. For now I'm using left handed assist on the keyboard so I can use all the keys...

I found a thread where people had the same issue with the iPhone XS here.

Has anyone else had this issue and found a solution? I'm hoping I don't need to replace the screen.

I have been experiencing the exact same issue on and off for the past 2 years. The first time it happened, I tried to reset my iPhone to factory defaults but that didn’t work. I then updated the iOS and that did fix it! But only temporarily… weird…. About 1 year later (Today), the p and backspace button on the right stopped working. I went to the notes app and scribbled around and indeed the right 1cm of my screen was not working. I ended up taking my iPhone to a local repair shop, they swapped out the screen, and Walla! The screen works great now, no issues.

So it could be software related, but on my iPhone SE 2nd gen, replacing the screen worked!

Hopefully this helps others as well.

Have the same problem. Turned off my phone during a performance for a couple of hours, and when switched it back - the right sight didn't respond. Trying to update, hope it will solve the problem.

Oh My God. It is fixed automatically after some days. I think this happen for bad battery health( Under 85). So I suggest pls replace the battery for solve this problem

Actually this didn't completely sort it - with Display Zoom set you can't shift the keyboard to the left, so although the send button can be used when texting, the p button can't be.

The work around we found for my wife's SE was to set the Display Zoom setting to Larger Text - as described below. This allowed her to send texts and type ok etc again.

Go to Settings > Display & Brightness.
Tap Display Zoom, then tap Larger Text.
Tap Done, then tap Use Zoomed
