Mac Mini M2 wifi issues

New Mac Mini M2 has constant issues with wifi. Its unusable. Ethernet works perfectly, but when using wifi the connection will consistently drop packets. Wifi works perfectly with older Mac mini M1, MacBook Pro, Intel Mac in the same small office. I have turned off all other devices and still have same issue. Did a factory reset and same issues.

**Solution discovered** (but Mac MUST release a fix for this soon. Very unhappy with my new Mac Mini M2 Pro.)

it is a problem with Wi-Fi 6 routers that combine all the bands under one SSID (Wi-Fi name).

If you have Spectrum, their “smart” router doesn’t have the function to separate the bands and therefore will NOT work. You need to get another router and the bands have to be named separately as others have said in the posts.

this is an issue that shouldn’t be an issue, and I’m surprised no fix has come for this yet so regular people don’t have to become network professionals to get their internet to work!

I don't know what's happened but my network connectivity seems to have got worse in the last day or so. The 5GHz Wifi fixed to Channel 44 had been fairly stable (if I avoided trying to use AirDrop etc.), but now my pings are very variable. Here's the results of this morning's tests:

2.4Ghz Channel 6 with AWDL active

5GHz Channel 44 with AWDL active

2.4Ghz Channel 6 with AWDL inactive

5Ghz Channel 44 with AWDL inactive

After Restarting the computer

5Ghz Channel 44 with AWDL active

5Ghz Channel 44 with AWDL inactive

After a restart with AWDL inactive on 5Ghz, it's a bit better but pings are still all over the place.

Very frustrating...

Yes Apple was no help. Firstly they ran a hardware diagnosis tool - said everything was working fine. They then wiped the M2 Pro clean, just like a new one and said it was working fine.....Get home, wifi still having same issues. After weeks of frustration I sold the stupid thing and I have moved on. I have had a few apple computers before the M2 Pro (2 x laptops, 2 x iMac's and a mac mini) and I've got to say this has been the worst experience. I bought this M2 Pro for my wife and her current thoughts are that she will not use another apple computer again.

They definitely are aware, and working to fix it.

As a result of my posts in this thread I received an unexpected call from an AppleCare Support engineer in Austin, Texas on Friday (I'm in the UK). During 2 calls totalling almost an hour, I described the issues in some detail, he screen-shared my Mac, got me to demonstrate the issue and collected over 700mb worth of sysdiagnose and Wireless Diagnostic log files whilst doing so.

I would guess they're contacting other people too, so hopefully the data they collect will lead to a fix at some point.

Me too. I am on my 2 exchanged because of wifi and thunderbolt issues.

This last mac Mini M2Pro was working perfectly until it did the latest update. Now it is having Wifi issues, it connects and disconnects every few seconds.

I am now testing to see if anything else, like thunderbolts, have been affected as well.

My USB powered HUB used as a workaround introduce new issues: The LG Oled C1 is flickering 3 times in a row randomly... about 3 times in a day of 10 hours... this was not the case before.

After a reboot, not all SSD are mounted, also something you don't expect on this class of hardware.

So there is something with USB / thunderbolt port going on. Let's hope it is NOT hardware #MacMiniM2Gate :-)

I recently bought a new Mac mini Pro with a m2 chip. My internet provider is Ziggo. I also have experienced this same issue as the people above. My Mac mini Pro shows connection to the WiFi, however there is no internet connection. All my laptops and other electronic devices in my room do have WiFi and work fine. I returned the computer back to the Apple Store where it appeared to be normal functioning. However at home again the same problem appeared (No WiFi at all, but still connected). However when using the LAN cable, I have perfect internet connection. So what is the solution to this major problem that has been occurring to everyone in this thread?
