Mac Mini M2 wifi issues

New Mac Mini M2 has constant issues with wifi. Its unusable. Ethernet works perfectly, but when using wifi the connection will consistently drop packets. Wifi works perfectly with older Mac mini M1, MacBook Pro, Intel Mac in the same small office. I have turned off all other devices and still have same issue. Did a factory reset and same issues.

**Solution discovered** (but Mac MUST release a fix for this soon. Very unhappy with my new Mac Mini M2 Pro.)

it is a problem with Wi-Fi 6 routers that combine all the bands under one SSID (Wi-Fi name).

If you have Spectrum, their “smart” router doesn’t have the function to separate the bands and therefore will NOT work. You need to get another router and the bands have to be named separately as others have said in the posts.

this is an issue that shouldn’t be an issue, and I’m surprised no fix has come for this yet so regular people don’t have to become network professionals to get their internet to work!

Hey guys i have completely given up, do you guys know the best way to sell a mini? i feel after a trip to the apple store and multiple service calls i just want to be done with this machine, its an insult to my patronage of apple... cannot even watch 4k video on this machine, it wont do anything. Even airdrop a small file is unusable... i hate for even trying this long, its days of productivity wasted. All six of my other apple devices at the same location in my house all transmit FAST and super airdrop speed. Its not my router or anything i can fix, this is all on Apple.

The “Pro” moniker debate is purely semantics, but it did make me think of something…

If I remember correctly, the internal design is slightly different in the Pro to make room for the 4 thunderbolt ports. I suspect the location placement of the airport card inside the machine is to blame for most of these issues, at least the ones I am having.

Updated to Ventura 13.4 but still experiencing the same issues for the wifi (2.4Ghz).

The 5Ghz one is worse (dropping more often for longer durations + sometimes encountering this error "Your Mac successfully joined the Wi-Fi network, but cannot reach the internet.").

None of my other devices (including iPhone, MacBook, Windows laptop) are experiencing issues like this at the same exact location.

I have contacted Apple Support (online) and they could not figure out anything. Later, I have arranged for a Genius bar appointment at the Apple Store, but the wifi isn't dropping at the store and they could not replicate the problem there. I have informed the Apple Genius Bar team member to refer to this particular thread, and make a note of it when he sends the Mac mini to Apple Repair for further investigation. 3 days later, I picked up the Mac mini and they told me that they could not find any problems.

I have already tried the suggestions mentioned in the thread (eg. the AWDL stuff, changing wifi channels in the router settings) and those did not help either. I totally regret not returning the Mac mini when I could have done it, incorrectly assuming that it is a software issue that Apple would be able to fix easily. And wifi randomly dropping like this is making this Mac mini almost completely unusable...

Does anyone else have any other suggestions (besides using the ethernet)? Thank you

I have the exact same problem on 2023 MacBook Pro 14. I got a replacement from the Apple Store and I still have the same issue with the replacement as well. I have a M2 MacBook Air and M1 MacBook Pro 13 and never had this issue. The M2 MacBook Air and M1 MacBook Pro 13 also uses Wifi 6(802.11ax) so I don't think that's the problem.

@dennis_hackethal were you able to find any solution?
