imessage different than icloud account
when i turn the imessage on, i get a message that says
"messages in icloud not available as
icloud and imessage accounts are different"
Why? how can this happen?

Check Settings > [Your Apple ID]. This is the Apple ID that should be uniquely yours and govern everything you do on this iPhone.
Now check Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. That same Apple ID (and no other Apple ID) should appear there.
