Alarms

I asked Siri to set an alarm for 15:50 and I saw the task get completed successfully, I then took a nap, phone less than 3inches away from my head (mind you; when I went to sleep I hadn’t activated any focus setting, even if I had the alarm shoulda still rang), I then woke up at 16:42 because my alarm didn’t go off, I then realized that my “personal” focus setting had been activated (it comes on automatically from time to time for reasons unknown to me) but the alarm shoulda still rang anyhow, I went to my clock, checked my alarms and the alarm was there, and since it wasn’t a repeat alarm it’ll deactivate after it’s rang and it was deactivated when I got there but it did so without ringing and I honestly find it hard to believe that it rang without me noticing, but even if it did, I didn’t hit stop, because I didn’t wake up so it was supposed to continue ringing periodically till I woke up but this isn’t the case. Not to be a party crasher but I feel really let down, I trusted Siri and my device but they failed me. I love Apple cos in my personal opinion it’s the best in terms of everything, I really hope I’m wrong about the alarm not ringing because due to it I missed a lecture which’ll forever be a toll on my educational record but it’s fine, I’m just worried because people could have alarms set for more important situations and it’ll be a shame to be let down by the devices we trust so much. Thank you ✌🏾

Hello The_pentagonist16,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities, and we'll be happy to help in any way we can. We understand you're having issues with alarms on your iPhone set with Siri. Have you tried restarting your iPhone? This simple step resolves a multitude of issues: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

"How to restart your iPhone 6, 7, 8, or SE (2nd or 3rd generation)

  1. Press and hold the side button until the power-off slider appears.
  2. ""
  3. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
  4. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo."

If that doesn't resolve the issue, does your iPhone need updating? Do you have a recent backup for the data in your iPhone in iCloud or your computer? If not, we recommend that you create one as described here: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Then update your iOS as outlined here:  Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

We hope this helps.

Cheers!

I do not think that Apple fully understands how many problems the design of their Alarm feature is causing for their users. I've browsed through dozens of forum posts both onsite and elsewhere, and here's what I see: (1) a significantly large group of users struggling with the iPhone Alarm's auto-silencing bug, and (2) so-called solutions that direct us to adjust various settings on the phone that end up still not fully addressing the problem. What we really need is a software fix that will involve Apple adding code to bring their Alarm feature up to the same standards that we have expected from alarm clocks since we all had one of those wood-paneled electronic GE alarm clock devices on our nightstands. What do we need? It's pretty simple. We need an alarm clock that will produce an alarm sound and will continue to produce said alarm sound in perpetuity - no 15 minute auto-silence! - plain and simple, the alarm should sound until the user actively presses the Stop or Snooze button! We need an alarm clock that does not auto-shut off if our sleeping faces are within view of the phone. We need an alarm clock that does not shut off if we jostle the phone or if it is in a pocket. We need an alarm clock that we can depend on! I, myself, have put myself in jeopardy of losing my job at times due to issues I've had with the iPhone's auto-silencing bug. And my daughter is currently being disciplined at school due to tardies brought about by, once again, the same auto-silencing bug. Let's band together and fight to get this fixed!!!
