Copy / paste question when using a bullet list in Notes

I use Notes to organize my entire life, and 99% of what I write I utilize bulleted lists.

I also copy information from these bulleted lists to then paste into other applications all the time.

I'm looking to copy text from a bulleted list in Notes, and when I paste that text in another application to not have the bullet be included in the paste. Just the original line of text.

Broken down a bit further.

—when in Notes and using a bulleted list

—if you copy any line of text from any bulleted list

—and then paste that line of text into any other application or format

—the “bullet” pastes along with the line of text

—even if you 1). PASTE or 2). PASTE AND MATCH STYLE

Is there any way to not carry over the bullet format?

I hope I explained that okay. Here's an example:

This has been plaguing me for years.

And in advance, thank you everyone for your time!

Hi Johnnyboy,

I really appreciate the help, and I don’t mean to sound unappreciative, but if you read my too long of a post (and do quick review of the attached screenshot in the original post), I tried all of that.

A simple PASTE (CMD + V) pastes the desired text IN ADDITION to the bullet from the original text-content that was copied.

It looks like this:

    • “original content I copied”

And then a PASTE AND MATCH STYLE (option + shift + CMD + V) pastes the desired text IN ADDITION to an indentation and an asterisk, representing the bullet from the original text-content that was copied.

It looks like this:

    * “original content I copied”

What I’m attempting to do is to copy text from a bulleted list within Apple Notes, and then paste it into another application WITHOUT carrying over either the bulleted format or the indentation + asterisk. To simply paste as plain text with no formatting.

Hoping for it to paste exactly like this:

“original content I copied”

(with no bulleted format, nor an indentation or asterisk)

Is that possible?

I hope I explained that okay, let me know if I can clarify at all.

Hi ShaunWickers,

We recommend you try the steps in the link below to learn how to match the style when copying and pasting on your Mac.

How to copy and paste on Mac - Apple Support

To perform the recommended troubleshooting steps via the link above, complete the steps in the section titled "Paste, or paste and match style."

First click to place your insertion point, then use one of these steps to paste your copied item at that location. When you paste and match style, the pasted item matches the font, color, size, or other style of the surrounding content.

Paste

*Press Command-V.

*Or choose Edit > Paste from the menu bar.

*Or Control-click (or right-click) the item you selected, then choose Paste from the shortcut menu.

Paste and Match Style

*Press Option-Shift-Command-V.

*Or choose Edit > Paste and Match Style from the menu bar.

We recommend the steps above because they will show you how to copy text from one location, then paste them into another place.

Please let us know the outcome after giving the above steps a try.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.

Cheers!
