High Sierra Mail problems with Google

I have an aged mid 2010 macbook pro running High Sierra OS that can’t do email because of an incompatibility with google requirements. I have other macbook pros with later OSs on the same WiFi network. Could I use imap to transfer mail from of them to the troubled one avoiding Google entirely?

If by ‘sort this out’ you mean ‘fix’ … no. It’s a Google judgement thing that many models of mac computers (like my mid 2011) simply no longer offer acceptable security … they are shut off from retrieving or sending mail from a Google account, so one must use workarounds. It isn’t a ‘mac’ problem, it’s a Google problem. Sp instead of Apple’s Mail app, use a browser app instead … https://www.google.com/gmail/about/

… or buy a newer computer.
