Kernel Panic

For about 6 months I have been having periodic kernel panic and force restart. It seems to happen almost exclusively when the computer attempts to sleep. When it happens however, the computer does not simply restart. It crashes, begins to restart (without the dong) and freezes about 1/2 way through. Often times the screen will turn colors and distort. Yesterday it took 30 attempts before it fully booted. Even while attempting to boot into safe mode. Finally, even when the computer seems to be running fine, using cmd+shift+eject to sleep the screen will cause the panic.

Things I have tried

-Any "basic" troubleshooting -Cache, Ram, ETC

-Safe Mode/Disc Repair

-Clear NV Ram etc

-Reinstalling Ventura

-Completely reformatting & reinstalling from backup

-Completely reformatting & reinstalling new copy

Good work attempting to solve this computer issue 👍

Generally, Kernel Panics are caused by Hardware Failures or Third Party Kernel Extension used on this machine

Being as Safe Mode did not fix the issue and it persists.

It is suggested to have the computer evaluated by the Professionals who have the Special Hardware Software and Expertise to diagnose the issue and offer possible solutions

Could be Bad RAM.

Generally RAM works or it does not

This can be a tricky issue and especially IF there has been Third Party RAM Module added into the computer

Only for a point of reference.

The Below links manifest a different Issue called " Volume Mismatch Error  "

In those cases, a RAM Module had gone South ( Bad )

Strange Disk Space Issue

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my question. It does seem that it has be hardware related at this point, but it is strange that it runs perfectly fine so much of the time then. I am not in a position to have it serviced currently. Do you think it is possible bad RAM could cause this? I know I am grasping here, but still hopeful there is an easy/affordable fix.

I don't want to take up too much of your time here, but this is very helpful for me. The "Strange Disk Space" caught my eye. Before my last reformat I had noticed that "system files" were taking more than 2/3 of the drive. Drive spaces were normal initially after reformatting but are now back to over 300GB.

  • I have not added any 3rd party ram to the machine
