Cracked Bezel MacBook Air M2

Generalization: The logical fallacy that says if it happens to me it happens to all.

Just because yours broke doesn't make it a common occurrence and Apple may have decided it was owner caused.

An identical thing happened to mine and I am super careful. This is crazy. I had my MacBook Air from 2020 for 3 years and it never had this issue. My M2 is only 1.5 months old and the bezel is already cracked? This is nuts! Can't Apple be held responsible? This makes me so sad :(

Is this really going to cost $400? for a brand new machine that is used gently daily??? There has to be a design flaw.

This is totally a design flaw. It happened to me right after warranty. Not quite sure if I want to bother replacing it. What’s the point if it’s just going to happen again. I am so careful with my computers. I’ve never had this problem with any other laptop before. I am pretty much done with apple products after this. I feel like their quality has been going down since 2013.

Totally agree. Mine cracked about 3 months after buying it. If I had known this was a common issue I would have never bought this laptop. Why spend that much of it happens commonly. I keep my MacBook clean and have never had anything on my screen or around the hing to cause something like this.

I got a similar crack on mine. Used it all morning and closed it during afternoon, opened a couple hours later to see it was cracked. I always open and close it gently holding the center or both the corners. How much did they charge to change the screen?

Hi, a similar hairline crack appeared on my bezel as well. What's the solution here? It seems like some have had success in getting the replacement under warranty, whilst others have been quoted upwards of $1000 for repair.

Me too :/ just noticed today. I thought it was cat hair! Nope a crack, from the hinge up to the screen on the black bezel

What?! That's crazy! After Apple refused to fix my cracked bezel on my MBA M1, they literally talked me into adding AppleCare+ to my new MBP 14" M1 saying it would now be protected!! If if happens again & they don't cover it I will be one of those VERY loud people disrupting the Apple store until they agree to honor what they told me.

WTF is happening with Apple these days?? I used to recommend Apple to everyone specifically because of how well they looked after me and stood by their products.
