Hey gang, this is what I found. Please let me know if this works for you.

Go into SETTINGS,

First step is to click into "SIRI AND SEARCH", click CALL HANG UP and turn that off.

Second step. Go To "ACCESSIBILITY", click "VOICEOVER", than click "AUDIO", then turn off "AUTO SELECT SPEAKER IN CALL".

Im giving credit to two Geeks

Tahseen and Jagdish, thank you!

kssaran ~ 80% is not healthy and is probably the reason for the dropped calls. (The weak battery failing to provide sufficient power to the iPhone's antenna to maintain a connection with cell tower signals.) Apple recommends replacing the battery at around 80%. So have the weak, aging battery replaced and all will be well:

FIXED !! No more call drops on my iPhone 11

Post 16.4 update, suffered frustrating amount of call drops for over a month. (Dropped on every single GSM call). This happened when on ear piece, it wouldn’t drop on speaker or on Bluetooths. Looked everywhere for solution, no go. Knew it had nothing to do with esim or battery health condition like others here have mentioned. Had given up hope and thought of getting a new one, but before that, wanted to try the only option - to factory reset the phone. Made up my mind to loose all the whatsapp data, looked up reset under settings, hit reset - immediately changed my mind and hit Reset all Settings. Boom - phones been working like a charm for a week now 🤞

I think I may have posted this earlier when I found the problem.

a new feature was included in a earlier iOS update.

Go to settings:

Go to Siri and search

turn off “Call Hang Up”

please reply if this fixed the problem.

I was noticing the screen would light up during a call just before the dis-connect.

Once again, post a reply if this fixed the problem.

Call Drop only in iPhone 11.

After updating my iPhone 11 to iOS 16.4.1(a) CALL DROP issues resolved completely. However, my frustration returned after update to iOS 16.5.

Based on the information I gathered through inquiries with people in my social circle, understood CALL DROP issue appears to be specific to iPhone 11 users

Interestingly, the calls do not drop when using either "Loudspeaker mode or Air Pods".

In an attempt to mitigate CALL DROP issue, I resorted to responding calls (incoming / outgoing) using Loudspeaker mode, with the volume reduced to the lowest level.

Regrettably, this workaround has become unpleasant & bothersome, as it deviates from my preferred way of interacting with my iPhone during calls.

The Apple customer care, both through chat & calls, as well as the service centre, have directed me to reach out to their respective carriers regarding this CALL DROP issues. However, carrier's response to the CALL DROP issue is logical and straightforward. They mentioned that "if the problem solely originates from the carrier, one expects call drops regardless of using Air Pods or being in Loudspeaker mode".

This issue seems highly likely to be solely a software glitch, which makes it surprising that a reputable tech company like Apple is unable to resolve the persistent problems experienced by numerous users.

In recent times, the distinctive qualities that Apple products were once known for have diminished, and their value in relation to the amount we paid for these devices have declined.

If you're experiencing call drop issues specifically after updating to iOS 16.4 on your iPhone 11, here are a few additional troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check for Carrier Updates: Sometimes, carriers release updates specifically designed to address compatibility issues with the latest iOS version. Go to Settings > General > About. If there is a carrier update available, you will receive a prompt to update. Install any pending carrier updates and see if it improves the call drop issue.
  2. Disable Wi-Fi Calling: If you have Wi-Fi Calling enabled on your iPhone, try disabling it temporarily to see if it makes a difference. Go to Settings > Phone > Wi-Fi Calling and toggle it off. Some users have reported that disabling Wi-Fi Calling resolved their call drop issues.
  3. Reset Network Settings: Resetting the network settings on your iPhone can help resolve connectivity issues that might be causing the call drops. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note that this will remove your saved Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth connections, and VPN settings. After the reset, reconnect to your Wi-Fi network and test the calls again.
  4. Contact Your Carrier: If the issue persists, reach out to your carrier's customer support. Inform them about the call drop issue you're experiencing since the iOS 16.4 update. They may have specific troubleshooting steps or be able to check if there are any known network issues in your area.
  5. Downgrade iOS Version: If all else fails and you believe the issue is directly related to the iOS 16.4 update, you may consider downgrading your iPhone's iOS version. Keep in mind that downgrading is not officially supported by Apple, and it's essential to follow a reputable guide or seek assistance from an authorized service provider if you decide to proceed with this option.

If the problem continues to persist even after trying these steps, it's recommended to reach out to Apple Support for further assistance. They can provide more specific guidance based on your device model and any known issues related to iOS 16.4.
