After ios 16.4 update, I’m experiencing call drop issues after 1min of every calls (both incoming & Outgoing / both ESIM and Physical sim)

If I speak in loud speaker (or) in AirPods, then no issues

Have tried all troubleshoot options (network resetting to factory reset) but nothing works

Hey gang, this is what I found. Please let me know if this works for you.

Go into SETTINGS,

First step is to click into "SIRI AND SEARCH", click CALL HANG UP and turn that off.

Second step. Go To "ACCESSIBILITY", click "VOICEOVER", than click "AUDIO", then turn off "AUTO SELECT SPEAKER IN CALL".

Im giving credit to two Geeks

Tahseen and Jagdish, thank you!

I am facing the same problem. I have an iPhone SE, iPhone 11, iPhone 13. This issue persists only in iPhone 11 that too for over past 4 months. After the recent update iOS 16.5, most probably a week ago it has become more irritating. Calls are fine over the speaker or airpods or wired apple headphones but it always gets disconnected while on phone earpiece. I have gone through all the options of - a) resetting it as new, b) restore, c) apple store visit, d) carrier store visit, e) reset e-sim, f) sim card change. Still the issue didn’t resolve. It is completely a software issue which Apple is not at all trying to address. Calls are the basic necessity of any phone. Apple always keep pushing updates and it always comes up with more new bugs. Looks like it’s time to switch to android instead of facing these issues.

Alancito - You missed out iphone SE and iPhone 13 which I mentioned too. My iPhone SE has 60% battery with no call issues and iPhone 13 has 91% battery and that too with no call issues. My iphone 11 battery was serviced when it showed up for battery service last December and it stands at 95% at present. Try to find solutions and get bugs fixed. It’s a software issue not some hardware issue. People all over the world using an iPhone 11 are facing the same problems.

I've had this same issue on my iPhone SE ever since the first iOS 16 update if the speakerphone's turned on during a call. Initially, it would randomly turn off the speakerphone or switch back and forth, but now it just cuts the call.

I've tried all the troubleshooting options as well, and even wiped the phone and reinstalled from iTunes, but to no avail.

Notably, at 80% battery capacity, which is considered weak, it fails to provide sufficient power to the iPhone antenna, leading to frequent call drops.

However, it's astonishing to witness that even with this weakened state, the battery manages to sustain calls flawlessly when using the loudspeaker mode.

Such an incredible technological feat indeed!

My iphone 11 drops out and it is 100% battery health. I don't think the low battery level has anything to do with it, seems to be software. The apple store ran tests and said that it is all my networks fault. I changed networks and it still drops out with 5 bars of network range at work. I have not noticed that it is only when I am using the ear speaker but I will try with airpods and speaker phone.
