audi mmi won't toggle songs since latest iPhone update (16.4)

today I have installed last update 16.5.1 and all problems was fixed. I have Iphone 11 Pro and before the current update I couldn't toggle song, increase/decrease volume, screen was stuck on "Loading....".

Correction, alter the latest update 16.4.1 and 1 minute of loading, it works fine again 👍. And the new classical app works fine with mmi while it does not work in CarPlay.

Update the infotainment firmware to current, then contact Audi, and use CarPlay as an alternative or work-around.

Whether this is an Apple bug or an Audi bug? Audi is still in the best position to discuss that with Apple.

There is one issue that comes to my mind - do you guys sharing the same problem have your private Apple Music account or a shared one - Family Apple Music account? Since my wife is the “admin” of our shared account and I am a regular (parrent) status member.

Apple Music Family Sharing was working fine with the MMI I was using, and with multiple paired devices. This was with the CarPlay interface and that including the wheel controls and the MMI knob and Siri. Apple Music playlists are kept private anyway, so at least that should not be involved in any communications with the MMI.

Try “forgetting the device” from your Bluetooth settings on your phone and removing your phone from the device list on the car and then reconnecting it. Seems to have worked for me.

I’m having the same issue with 2019 SQ5. Even the latest update 16.5 didn’t fix the issue. It only seems to be an issue with playlist. If you pick a album you move up and down and switch between songs but not with playlists

The MMI knob functions with iOS 16.4.1 and Apple CarPlay with an Audi infotainment system, for volume, for on-off, and for forward and reverse. Same for the steering wheel audio controls. This CarPlay connected via Bluetooth, and in or out of the Qi charger. If y'all aren't using CarPlay, try that.

For those (only) using the MMI path, do the Siri and CarPlay paths work?

My firmware is current on my 2019 SQ5. I still can’t change my playlist songs with my steering wheel or center knob. My Audi dealership is aware and they have reached out to Apple. Hopefully in the next update it will be fixed.

Whatever is happening here for some folks is seemingly either specific to the Audi audio path, or to the firmware on the particular Audi infotainment system, or, yes, maybe to iOS.

But locally, the CarPlay path was tested and works.

I contacted Apple about the issue yesterday after many hours it still wasn’t resolved, rebooted phone to factory settings had to re install from I cloud lost all passwords depending on who you get in support can be frustrating but it doesn’t help or fix issues

i contacted apple support was passed on to the tech "experts " was told to teset my phone to rule out update but still didn' t work ,totally frustrating ,had to reinstall from cloud lost all passwords on appps and phone still function with MMI ,I have contacted support again but seem to be getting ignored

Nov 2023, I have a audi 2019 rs5 never had any issues, I just updated my iPhone 12 Pro Max for the first time in a long time and now I am having the exact issue everyone is complaining about here.

this is why I hate updating my iPhone. So annoying. So it’s clear it’s an IOS issue.
