Can’t log in to Messenger kids on iPad

I finally got this to work. I had to log my kid out from the parental controls on my phone.

I used to get messenger notifications in my FB messenger inbox. I clicked on one of those and it led me to click Parent Dashboard. Another way to get to the Parent Dashboard is by clicking on the three horizontal lines in the corner of your FB Messenger App > Settings > Visit Parent Dashboard. Once there, you can click on your child and you'll see an icon at the top that looks like a gear with the word "Controls" next to it. Click that, then look for "log out of devices." I had to log out of her iPad even though it was a new iPad, deleted the app and downloaded it again, she was still considered to be logged in. Once I did this, I went back to the messenger kids app and started over from the initial setup. It flowed right into her inbox! I hope this helps.

My son’s was doing the same! We troubleshooted in the same manners you did and finally I was like…. What new apps have you gotten lately? Sure enough he’d gotten some app called Lockable, thinking it would stop ads in his game, but what it did was create a VPN and that firewall wouldn’t let the Messenger Kids app open! Ugh! So frustrating! It’s a sophisticated app designed to stop a hack… not for ads…so needless to say: we deleted it and voilà! Messenger Kids is working again!

Found a way to fix this! Tried all the comments below. What you need to do is:

-download messenger kids on another device

-meanwhile, login from there your FB app and go to manage messenger kids then going into the parent controls and log out from all devices

-log in to the messenger kids app on the new device

-once you’re in log in to messenger kids on the ipad

-log out from the other device

The problem is probably with your router. I have an Eero, and it’s blocking the app on the iPad for some reason. So I used my phone as a hotspot for the iPad and then logged in no problem.

We had the same issue, after lots of research and googling, the way we got around this was:

- remove one parent as the guardian on messenger kids (this is done through the Facebook app under control section)

- then re-add that parent (also through Facebook app)

- log into kids messenger app using the re-added parents Facebook details

SOLUTION

This worked for me. Download the FB app on your kid’s device. Login to your FB account on the FB app. Then reopen the Messenger Kids app. Your info should now show on the Messenger login page. Enter your password to authorize. Select the child that will use the device. You should be good to go. Log out of the FB app.

So I have been dealing with this problem for days and just solved it! When I created my child’s messenger account, I used my fb for my son. My husband used his for our daughters. I couldn’t figure out why I can login my son on any device but for my girls it keeps looping and asking for the login over and over. When I used my husband’s facebook account info instead of mine, I was able to login my girls. I think it has to do with the account you first set up your child on. Hope this helps!

I had the same issue. Fb wanted my username / phone; then password; then authorization code. I tried the ‘one time code sent to email’ at the password stage and used that number for authorization. Nothing.

Finally I realized that it wanted my username / phone; then password; then a code generated in Duo Mobile.

Please check if you have a Facebook Authenticator app enabled. If so, disable it and retry. Worked for me after so many tries of doing different things.

I think I found a fix for this, what we did was add a new parent and have that parent authorize the login. It logged in after that. Hope this helps!

My youngest accidentally logged my middle child’s account off. Same looping issue but yet it would log my other two children in no problem on the same tablet.

Husband cleared the cache from the Messenger Kids App and it worked!!

Trying removing a parent and then re-adding (done via Facebook). Once you've re-added that parent, use their details to log your child on through the kids messenger app.
