Blocked callers still ringing through

I'm still getting calls from blocked numbers and I don't understand why.

My phone displays the contact name I've assigned--'Aaaj Blockade' when it rings.

The specific number that is recognized as the number calling is highlighted when I click 'info' under 'recents' for this call.

'Aaaj Blockade' shows correctly 'unblock this caller', confirming it is currently in blocked status.

That number is not attached to any of my other contacts.

I have 'silence unknown callers' turned ON.

I no longer can find the setting that was something like "let unknown calls ring through after 3 attempts" but I always kept that one OFF.

All options for Siri & Search settings menu under 'phone' in Settings are off.

I do not recognized this number and AFAIK I have not called it recently.

I do understand that number spoofing means calls can come from anywhere and display as any number.....but how can a number that is *recognized* by the phone as blocked still come through?

Use Malwarebytes Mobile Security:

The free version blocks popups. The paid version blocks out known spam numbers, and lets you add number to the block list. So, consider using it. Read the following post to see how to use this software: Blocked numbers - Apple Community

You are welcome.

Based on personal experience:

Malwarebytes Mobile Security

I use Malwarebytes on all of my devices, and I sure don’t get any junk calls, whatsoever. So, you should consider doing the same. Malwarebytes was developed by long time users of these forums.

Secure yourself, and report others:

This seems to be what you need: Malwarebytes - Mobile Security. It’s found right in the App Store. It blocks so many junk calls and junk texts, and it allows you to report this on your own to the Developer.

You can report these to Apple and others, using the Photos App: Using the Photos App to Report Scams: - Apple Community

I'm sorry. As soon as I posted that I realized it was rude, and I tried to edit it to make clear that I was genuinely asking a question about why it is not good to assign unwanted callers to a named contact that is blocked, but I kept getting error messages ('wait a moment and try again') and gave up after a while.

I should have replied again in another post and deleted that one.

Again, I am sorry.

Thank you for your help.
