I'm on MacOS Monterey and iOS 16.4.1 (both up to date), where copy-and-paste from my iPhone to MacOS is not working. Steps to debug include restarting bluetooth on each device; try pasting into different apps, try selecting/copying the text from the iPhone again, repeat debugging steps. No luck.
Is there a bug in the new revision of iOS that is preventing this operation? How can we fix this?

Handoff (the name of the mechanism for transferring state data between your Mac an iPhone) doesn't rely solely on Bluetooth.
Both devices have to be logged in on the same iCloud account, and Handoff needs to be enabled.
So first check that you're logged into iCloud on both devices.
The on the Mac, check System Preferences -> General, and make sure that the 'Allow Handoff between this Mac and your iCloud devices' is enabled.
On the iPhone, check Settings -> General -> AirPlay & Handoff to make sure it's enabled there.
After making sure I was on the same wifi and the handoffs were enabled and all that, I realised I could paste Mac to Phone but not in the reverse. I tried some of the above except the Terminal option but a restart of my phone took care of it. Posting in case it might be that simple for someone else.

I just had to switch my phone to airplane mode and back to make it work.
Confirmed! Turning on Airplane mode on my iPhone 15 Pro Max for a few seconds and then turning it back off did the trick. Didn't have to run the terminal commands listed above. Thanks for this!
Two things helped for me: one time a safe mode boot cleaned up whatever needed cleaning.
Another time, pasting from Mac to iPhone had old data. As it happened, I had a screen sharing session into that Mac from another Mac. Screen sharing tends to fiddle with copy/paste, so that it can work across the systems involved. Disconnecting the remote session had the copy/paste between Mac and iPhone again picking up current data.
With iOS 17.1 and Sonoma 14.1 turning Handoff off and back on again on both devises fixed this for me.
(Macbook pro M1 16" 2021 and iPhone 15 PM).
I just installed Sonoma 14.1.1 and it works again!

I had this issue and I was able to fix it just by restarting both devices.
I updated my M1 MBP to Sonoma 14.2 (23C64 and my iPhone 15 Pro to iOS 17.2 today and everything is working again.
for me - bluetooth was turned off on the MAC without realising, quick fix..
The frustrating thing is that it works with my work MacbookPro on the same network. My personal MacbookPro does not. The only thing I can think of that is different is my work machine is an Apple chip, and mine is an Intel chip. It is also not all things related to connecting to my phone. Handoff is working (I can see Safari open on iPhone and on iPad). I just cannot paste between the devices. I do not see the iOS devices in "Locations".
Hi, Firstly, you should check if handoff is available for both devices. And then, you should check Bluetooth sharing settings. You can check the System Settings-> General-> Sharing window, and you should turn it to open.
Apple needs to fix this ASAP. This feature was a huge selling factor in why I chose to get a Mac last year over a new Windows PC. Power users rely on macro keys / clipboard shortcuts to get a lot of work done across devices. Literally adds 30 mins to my daily workflows from having to send URLs through imsg/whatsapp to myself rather than a quick copy/paste. Not to mention I went through the whole process listed on their site to sign out/in to iCloud. Had to set up my whole iCloud / wallet again. Just a waste of time. Glad I found this where the community pointed out the problem otherwise I would have been losing it trying to figure out how to fix this still. Would like to see a response from apple regarding this but seems like they haven't even acknowledged the issue.
Handoff is not working in between newest Sonoma 14.1.1 and IOS 17.1.1 as per Nov 24 2023.
Newest OS for both iphone and desktop are less detail oriented with bugs in areas that before were totally fine; handoff, Notes starting window is not saving preferences of how it was closed last time, many others (desktop), when texting in iphone the suggestions appear off the traditional position and going to one corner of the screen.
For me it appears using AirDrop is one way to trigger the issue.

I tried the second command and there was no response from the system which makes me think it was successful. I ran both commands again, this time got no errors.
However copy/paste is still not working from my Macbook (Air 2020 running 14.4.1) to my phone (11 running 17.4.1). It is working from my
phone to my Mac.
