When I download something it NEVER appears in my folder. Where does it go? How can I view my downloads?

By default, downloaded files on an iPhone are saved in the Downloads folder in the Files app. Here are the steps to view your downloads:
If you still can't find your downloaded files, try checking the Downloads folder on your iCloud Drive or other cloud storage services you may be using. You can also try searching for the filename using the Spotlight search feature on your iPhone.
Additionally, your settings may be configured to save files in a different location. To view this setting:
If you're still having trouble finding your downloaded files, please let me know and I'll do my best to assist you further.

Not only does it seem that I have to hunt for hours to find my downloads and that’s only if they show up at all or I stumble on them, but what I really wonder is why is it, that when I download a video from particular sites it only asked me what number I would like as in speed and storage of the video itself yet if I choose to download the videos, it instantly takes me to simply a blank page and gives me no indication whatsoever if the download is complete or in progress, or any information for that matter

Can anyone help me with how to determine when the download of a video is finished when in fact, I am 100% of the time in these cases, looking at a blank screen that does not have any information supplied about upload downloaded zip file or any of the normal information you find when the download is completed, you simply sit on a blank page and if you leave that page, it completely destroys your download apparently because mine are not complete and I can’t just sit and look at the blank page and wonder forever
Have worked out how to download into files
Open a new folder in file app and when you download it automatically goes into that folder
After updating to 18.3.1, I was able to find the download
I downloaded the Google Drive app onto my iPhone 13 ProMax and my downloads showed up there, easy peasy.
I have followed all of the suggestions in your reply. I can see my Purchase under the downloads but the file is nowhere. I checked to see where Safari is putting it and it is iCloud, but it isn’t there. Other personal downloads are but not my purchase from Apple.
Nope, nope...I've done all that...and cannot find them either. Where on earth are you hiding our downloads? I keep downloading them over and over and over again. THEN every so often, they appear in my photos app and of course then I have a gazillion of them. This is crazy. Why is this so difficult? Today I have tried for hours to get your apps to download my creations to no avail. This is so frustrating.
Hey Apple
heres a revolutionary thought. When I want to download a file, why not just…er…download it to a dedicated download file. A bit like…Microsoft
while you’re at it, maybe devise a simple, sensible, logical filing system. A bit like Microsoft.
your entire approach to saving files is the equivalent of opening the door to a filing room, drop kicking the file into the room, then slamming the door shut.
if you are going to invent a different system to Microsoft (e.g. one that is both logical and easy) then at least make it…logical and easy.
its not rocket science
I have had problems with finding downloads on my ipad. I discovered that i need to download on iPhone first. Once I confirm it is in files on iPhone, then I go to Ipad and will see the link in Files under iCloud drive and i can activate download on ipad. So phone first then ipad. The reverse does not work.
Same problem with at least some of my downloads using Edge - they’re not in Downloads either on Drive or on the IPad. They don’t even appear under Recent, though whether this means recently received or recently viewed I’ve no idea. Why does Apple insist on making everything so bizarrely complicated?
First, go to files app.
Second, click on (iCloud Drive) or (On My iPhone).
Third, click on the three dots on the upper right and of the screen.
Fourth, click on (New Folder).
Fifth, name the folder (Downloads)
Finally, the folder should show the download icon and it's ready!
Basically every time i download a file from google it disappears. not in the files app, not in any folder not anywhere. if i download photos it gets saved to my camera role but any sort of file just disappears. please help.
Hahaha..a bit like Microsoft? I beg to differ. At least with MS you can find your dl. Icloud sends them off into the clouds LITERALLY I think, lol. Maybe it IS rocket science....haha. Don't you think we've tried saving to a dedicated folder? duhhhhhhhhh Please don't reply to my comments. You're rude and cause me to be sarcastic!
YEAH……. If you have iCloud enabled, everything automatically goes there and not your phone at all.
I love how Apple did this so that you use up all your iCloud space and I have to buy more for the people that don’t realize what’s going on
I’m not sure if turning off iCloud automatically redirect files to a download folder or if you’re able to then specify where they go
Just another money grab from Apple
Like many in this community, I can't seem to download files onto my iphone. Sometimes it works and the files show up in my Downloads folder, but mostly they just never appear anywhere on my iphone or icloud storrage.
Example: on the OneDrive app on my iPhone 13, I only have the options to "share" or "make available offline". There is no option to "save" or to "download". So... if I "Share" via email to my own email address, I get a link to the file in the received email. After clicking on the link, I'm taken to a browser window that has the file, and have the option to "download". But after clicking on that download icon, the file still doesn't show up anywhere on my iPhone.
This is my first iPhone. The experience overall has been... well... awful !!! The people at apple have mostly all been terrific. But the many issues that have require their help, have taken me to the point that I just want to go back to Android. Hey, there's a thought... Simple solution to all those android users who can't understand apple's filing system... go back to Android.
