iPhone XR: store my audio cds?

I am a novice smart phone user so the answer to this may be obvious, yes or no, but I have no idea. I have an iPhone XR. I listen to music mostly through my CD player in my car and home. I like cds. I am old school. I have no interest in streaming music, satellite radio, etc. My new car has no CD player and no easy way to put one in there. But I can bluetooth my phone into the sound system. Can I transfer the music on my cds to the iPhone and play them that way? I have no intention of buying music via some online store since I have already purchased the cds. Thanks.

I successfully ripped a CD to the Music app on my MacBook Air, put all the songs from the cd on a new playlist, and then transferred that playlist to my iPhone, and verified that it was on the iPhone and could be played there. A few days later, I added three new cd playlists to my MacBook Air and then transferred those to the iPhone; and apparently the first playlist, added before, is now gone from the iPhone. I had indeed removed it from the MacBook Air in the meantime because I don't need it there. I did not knowingly choose to sync the iPhone with the laptop in the process of transferring the playlists to the iPhone but perhaps there was something I could have done which would have prevented the first playlist from getting removed? Many thanks for any help you can provide!
