Apple Watch battery drain

the battery on my apple watch (series 8), purchased in late march, suddenly drains much quicker. i've only had it for a little over a month and i didn't change any settings so this is quite baffling to me.

any idea what is going on?

thanks!

Make sure to turn off background app refresh and  check walkie talkie is not accidentally turned on.

Check there is no workout running (yellow circle at top if screen.)

Make sure you have no VPN or VPN based ad-blocker on the iphone. Uninstall it then remove any profiles (iPhone Settings, General VPN & Device Management)

Force restart your watch i.e. press and hold both the side button and Digital Crown for at least 10 seconds, then release both buttons when you see the Apple logo.

Then while the Watch is restarting Force Restart the paired iphone   Force restart iPhone – Apple Support (UK)

Try it for a couple of days especially if you sync photos to your Watch.

If the battery still drains  then Unpair the watch and then pair it again.

Unpair and erase your Apple Watch – Apple Support (UK)

Set up your Apple Watch – Apple Support (UK)

Hey I own an Apple Watch SE2 (not series2) and while I was setting it up it updated to watch os10.2 so I just went with it and I noticed the battery was not up to the claimed 18 hours Apple said and was just lasting for around 13 hours and you guys may think that is not that bad but the thing is I wanna track my sleep as well so it isn’t really enough for me to do that so Apple could you please fix that Ina later update.

I have the Apple Watch 7. It has worked fine until about a month ago. The battery is now completely draining and turning off 6 hours after being taken off the charger and having a full charge. This watch isn’t even paid off yet and I’m having issues with it not working properly. I can’t even get through a day of work without it dying and shutting off. Has anyone figured out the issue?

Battery on my watch is at 66%. It is 8:15 am and I have only had it off the charger for approximately 3 hours. This started in the beginning of December. I’m getting so frustrated as I utilize my watch often to keep on schedule and I haven’t been able to use it for almost a month now. I’m losing my faith in this product and I’m an ‘Apple person’ since I pre-ordered the very first iPhone in 2007. Please figure this out. I want to use the watch I spent a decent amount of money for. It’s truly unacceptable.

Ditto - rapid battery drain and now my step count stopped recording on Christmas Eve. The resymc in the watch app does nothing; as someone reported previously the button appears non-functional. I would expect to get an “are you sure” or a progress bar or wheel - SOMETHING! Nada!

1st observed this month.

As another poster observed it goes from 0% to 100% really fast too after it crashes and dies.

far too many Nov/Dec 2023 posts on this to be a one off.

Same on my Series 8,

unfortunately for me I’m a 61yo severely disabled man with life threatening, potentially lethal health issues and I bought my Apple Watch to assist me in tracking these problems and to communicate with my health care team. Having my watch die a few hours into my day, or not be able to track my health issues a couple of hours into my day simply isn’t a viable option for me, as the consequences could be lethal for me.

so, c’mon Apple - get your poop gathered into a single pile and fix these inexcusable issues please !

I have been scratching my head over the issue for the past two weeks. Initially, I thought the battery drain was due to increased usage as I recently started going to the gym and morning walks, tracking my progress with the watch however, I noticed that even on weekends when I wasn't using the watch, the battery still drained quickly and suspect its an issue first try this https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-250006801 but have difficulty following up the solutions later found this resource online and its help me minimize the battery drain as I am in my 55 and not so tech literate the solution is clear with images and easy to follow for me hope it help you as well.

My user tip has the same solutions and more without all the adverts.

Where is the battery self-discharge test?

Where is the relationship with security apps and other iphone third party apps?

Which options did you specifically adjust in your successful battery life improvement?

What commercial connection do you have with that clickbait superficially ineffective website?

If you are going to criticise our user tips you had better come well armed with details.

The battery on my Apple watch has recently been draining super quickly. I used to be able to go at least a day or two without needing to charge the watch, but the battery has been draining by midday recently. Additionally, it used to charge very quickly, within 30 minutes or less, but now it takes several hours to fully charge. The activity rings have also been slow to update, or simply do not update at all when the watch is dead. I have a series 3, but I have taken great care of it in the years I have had it and have never had any issues with it until now. It seems like this has been an issue for many people as well and I wanted to make sure it wasn't just me.

Apple watch series 9. No change in apps or usage, and all of a sudden today my watch battery is draining crazy fast. Owned it for a couple months now without this issue. Normally, I can wear it throughout the day/night and I charge it while I am showering in the morning. Today, I did the same thing but got a 10% batter alert around 2PM. I charged it fully and looked at the battery life a couple hours later and its below 70%. Something is definitely up with the software, as I didnt seem to have any issues until it updated...
