With a subscription as expensive as AppleTV why do I still need to spend even more money to watch any of the good movies or shows? It doesn’t seem fair to make your subscribers pay so much so many times. Seems pointless to have a subscription just to pay more on top of that.

There is no double charging. The Apple TV app hosts more content than just the Apple TV+ subscription catalog. The subscription is not for the app (the app itself is free), but for access to the Apple Originals a.k.a Apple TV+ catalog. Buying or renting movies or TV shows is separate from the subscription. One does not require the other. See Apple TV+ as an in-app subscription channel.
With the Apple TV app on your smart TV or third party streaming device, you can access:
Buy/rent prices are set by the supplying studios, and pretty much on par with every other content provider with buy/rent content. I.e. no honest reason to think of that as excessive, compared to anywhere else.

I have appleTV+ subscription but Napoleon movie does not show up, it is written “coming at a later date” whereas it is supposed to be available on March 1st. How comes ?

Yes nothing new seems to appear I had a look last time a free subscription was offered nothing at all I wanted to watch 6 months later still exact same things

There is only one scenario you would need to purchase Apple content with a subscription and that is in the case of watching a movie while it is still in theaters such as Argylle. You will be able to watch the movie for free exclusively from Apple when it becomes available.
Any other content that you would need to pay for is provided from other streaming services. This is the same way it works with other streamers such as Prime Video. Just because you have a Prime subscription does not mean you can view all of the content there for free.
To see only the Apple content that you can view for free, then select the Apple TV+ tab in the sidebar. If none of that content appeals to you, then I suggest you cancel the Apple TV+ service.
The Apple TV + subscription is for Apple's original content. This content will display the logo below in the bottom right hand corner of the thumbnails for all of Apple's original content.
