There is only one scenario you would need to purchase Apple content with a subscription and that is in the case of watching a movie while it is still in theaters such as Argylle. You will be able to watch the movie for free exclusively from Apple when it becomes available.
Any other content that you would need to pay for is provided from other streaming services. This is the same way it works with other streamers such as Prime Video. Just because you have a Prime subscription does not mean you can view all of the content there for free.
To see only the Apple content that you can view for free, then select the Apple TV+ tab in the sidebar. If none of that content appeals to you, then I suggest you cancel the Apple TV+ service.
