How do I type page in headers and numbers in a Numbers table? This is an embarrassingly simple thing to do and I normally have no problem with it but the option seems to have gone, even though I can see both page header and footer when I print the table. Page numbers exist in the Insert option but it is always inactive.
I've solved my problem!!!
I dictate almost everything using voice control.
I turned OFF voice control and importantly rebooted the Mac.
And typing in headers and footers in Numbers is now enabled!
Turning voice control ON again - and typing into headers and footers ceased.
Thanks for your help. This is clearly an Apple bug? I wonder if they read these discussions...
After getting the flashing cursor did you type something?

Flashing cursor. Typed a few words. Absolutely nothing. Cursor still flashing. I can copy and paste text into footer. But can only delete.
