No login info when MacBook Air turn on

Gretting,

Due to low memory on the hard drive, I accidentally deleted all database of my MacBook Air, mid 2012 version via safe mode. Now I am trying to login but there is no login window except a file folder with a question mark? It seems there are no stars up folder? Any help with the login is much appreciated. Also, when trying to install the new OS, it asked for a location to be stored but there is no pop up Windows to choose.

You are welcome.

As a Followup:

When you boot into Recovery Mode, and then go into Disk Utility, do you see your hard drive? Is there an “Unmount” button there? Try pressing the First Aid button for each volume and subdirectory.
