iphone SE 3rd gen gets hot - 2 days out of the box

I just got a new iphone SE 3rd gen and got it all set up at the verizon store yesterday. Today I noticed the phone getting hot - nearly as hot as my old iphone 7 that I just got rid of! This happens when I'm not charging and when I'm not running any apps. Is this battery graph normal, and if yes, why is my brand new phone getting hot? My iphone 7 didn't get hot like this until it was years old

My experience says this is purely caused by some third-party app that you may have installed.

I am not aware of the ambient temperature in which you are using the iPhone. However --> Keeping iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch within acceptable ...

Store the device where the temperature is between -20º and 45º C (-4º to 113º F). Don’t leave the device in your car, because temperatures in parked cars can exceed this range.

Use iOS devices where the ambient temperature is between 0º and 35º C (32º to 95º F). Low- or high-temperature conditions might cause the device to change its behavior to regulate its temperature. Using an iOS device in very cold conditions outside of its operating range might temporarily shorten battery life and could cause the device to turn off. Battery life will return to normal when you bring the device back to higher ambient temperatures. Using an iOS device in very hot conditions can permanently shorten battery life.

I am having the same issue. I had an SE 2nd gen for a few year, and in the past year I noticed that it started getting hot, particularly when I used the Amazon Music app. I just ordered the 3rd gen and it arrived today. I tried the Amazon Music app and yup, it's getting pretty dang hot.

Apple and Amazon are just pointing the finger at each other. It's dang frustrating.

Thank you. Using the phone in my apartment - not in especially hot or cold environment, so maybe it is an app. I don't know what to think - I'm not using any apps on this new phone that I didn't have on the old iphone 7, and the old iphone 7 didn't get hot until it was years old. Do you think this new phone is a lemon?
