I wish I had read this before we bought our new iPhone 14 Pros today and had this problem. It connects via Bluetooth but will not connect to CarPlay so I can’t access my map or anything. REALLY ****** OFF.
If you are running iOS 14 on your iPhone, this means you haven't updated iOS in at least a couple years. The first thing you need to do is update your iPhone to the most current iOS version. Tell us what model iPhone you own and we'll tell you what the most current iOS version is for your phone.
Had the same issue. Got it resolved doing the following:
Setting
Screen time
Contents and privacy and restrictions
Allowed apps
make sure Apple car play is turned on.
once turned on restart the phone and that should fix the issue. Fixed mine after I updated to iOS 16.6.1. Hope this helps.
Hi there , updated to 16.6.1 on my iPhone 14 pro max and now the car play is disconnecting every minute when playing music , maps etc , everything has been re set on stereo and phone and VW/MAN commercial vehicles dealer not aware of any problems , any news of a fix available, Pleaseeee , many thanks Darren
Same issue on 2017 Ford F150 Platinum with Sync 3. Everything worked until an update a few months back. I have even removed and replaced the USB port in the truck thinking it had something wrong with it and doubting it could be my new iPhone 14 that was the issue as it has worked a week before it stopped on a road trip and using the Apple Map as the Navigation. Currently have the 14 updated to iOS 16.6.1 and still not resolved in that version.
Un-pair from the infotainment system, and un-pair from the iPhone, both, and then check for updates for the infotainment system and for the iPhone, re-pair, and check again.
If problems persist, contact the infotainment system vendor.
It started after an Apple update, not before. As a troubleshooting methodology, great suggestion for others, but unfortunately I’ve already done the unpairing from both devices that (first about 2 months ago when it first started) without any change. Coincidently, my daughter has a 13 Pro Max that received the same update and it broke CarPlay for her as well in both my Ford and in her 2022 Nissan. This isn’t on the automobile manufacturer; this is an Apple Software oopsie, that likely slipped through quality control checks. If I weren’t in the Technology field and specifically the software dev field, I might be more apt to believe Apple software is without bugs that need fixes.
2022 Ram TRX. CarPlay will no longer work also. Have been driving my vette until now so I suspect CarPlay broke with a previous IOS update. Tried everything from resetting all to USB to wireless CarPlay. Nothing works.

My CarPlay ( on CRV 2019) suddenly stop working after IOS 16.7.2 updated. Bluetooth is still working, battery is still charging, but can't connect to CarPlay. I tried all posted recommendations, but still doesn't work. So frustrated!
1 foot (12”) cable is a solution. Just FYI, I had the same problem with my phone not connecting to CarPlay after the update and read in a Reddit forum that using a 1 foot long cable will allow phone to connect. I tried it and it worked! My assumption is that this is intentional and was done to prevent one from looking at their phone while driving however my experience is that it is a dangerous change in that at times I do need to glance at my phone and it requires way more of my attention because of the issues of dealing with a short cord.
I had a similar problem with my Chevy Bolt 2018 -CarPlay stopped working. I went into car settings, to devices, and saw that CarPlay was turned off. No idea how that happened. I turned it back on and voila all is good again..very simple fix.
I am also having the same issue with my VW Tiguan. Carplay will no longer work and I have done all of the troubleshooting steps. Please get this fixed asap!
Is anyone from Apple going to respond to this? Would be nice to know if they are working on this or what.
I contacted support directly in regards to this issue. I am told the engineers are looking into this now. I also gave them this discussion ID so hopefully they will respond when they have a fix.
Same issue in Toyota car play. Apple, please respond.
