iPhone 13 hotspot keeps disconnecting and going to sleep. Unsolved

I´ve been using an iPhone for 6 months or so and I've always had issues with the hotspot functionality. The WIFI radio turns off every few minutes and kicks all connected devices off (laptop and iPad), I tried following the guidance on the support page but doesn´t seem to resolve anything. Next step will be carrying a second device to provide mobile hotspot when on the road, which seems silly that I must resort to something like this. This is a work provided device so rooting and such options isn´t a possibility.

If Personal Hotspot is not working on your iPhone or iPad (Wi-Fi + Cellular) - Apple Support

  • Resetting network settings
  • Restarting device
  • Updating to newest version of IOS
  • Switching to different sim card both ESIM and physical SIM.

Any ideas before I order a third sim and start carrying my old phone for AP functionality.

I did that while testing so it is confirmed that it is not an issue with the simcard it also work's in a different phone.

  1. full coverage 4g/5g speedtest between 160-300 mbit/s on cellular.
  2. Data Balance. Unlimited on work sim, 900gb on person.. not an issue.
  3. On your windows (See if WiFi Auto Joins is enabled), Not the issue.
  4. Also, check if you have any stronger WiFi signal around your computer. Also not the issue.

Despite your attempts at various methods, you have yet to explore the crucial step of utilizing the SIM card from your iPhone 12 Pro in alternative devices. This is because the functionality of a Hotspot is contingent upon the carrier rather than the specific device in use.

Please see the pic below to make it clearer that Hotspot is enabled by a Carrier on one SIM and not by the other Carrier in the same iPhone (Dual SIM).

Use these steps first

Restart the iPhone or iPad that provides Personal Hotspot and the other device that needs to connect to Personal Hotspot. Make sure that you have the latest version of iOS. On the iPhone or iPad that provides Personal Hotspot, go to Settings > General > Reset, then tap Reset Network Settings.

Also, check the following

  1. Network coverage and stability
  2. Data Balance
  3. On your windows (See if WiFi Auto Joins is enabled)
  4. Also, check if you have any stronger WiFi signal around your computer.

Ask the Carrier to change the SIM if nothing works.
