Apple Wallet says “Pass Disabled” for TicketMaster

My Ticketmaster concert tickets in the Wallet suddenly show “Pass Disabled” and “This pass is associated with a different Apple ID”. Ticketmaster has not been able to help me so far. I do still show my tickets in Ticketmaster. Is it safe and wise to try deleting them in the Wallet and then start over in Ticketmaster and add to Wallet again? I did not transfer these to anyone so there shouldn’t be duplicates. Although a different set of tickets for same weekend were transferred to my spouse and it has the same message.

Just ran across this with sports season tickets I can use bar code but not add to wallet. Turns out my son used my TM account for a concert a few months back and loaded into Apple wallet. His Apple ID is now linked to my TM account. He can add the tickets to his wallet logging on as me on his phone but I get the dreaded message. Spent extensive back and forth with TM. They had no solution but to delete account and use new email. Spoke to Apple too and they said all TM. So beware if you log onto a different device using your account it may adopt that Apple ID. It would seem TM could simply change the linked Apple ID . Not sure why just a one way and can’t revert back. Still searching for solutions but will try some of these suggestions.

Have this issue also. It started when I accepted tickets for various football season tickets for my husband using his TM email on my phone. Now I can save to my wallet but he cannot when logging into these football apps. I guess somehow my Apple ID is now associated with his TM account. Called apple support and TM, but seems no solution to fix or unlink my Apple ID with his TM account. I’m sure many many people are having this problem. Apple said it’s a known issue they have recorded. But no resolution. What a pain!!! They say started after IOS 16.2? Who knows. TM was no help. Anybody else have any ideas?

I too reached out to my NFL season rep who contacted TM on my behalf. He just informed me my account was unbound and I was able to relink my account to my wallet. I don’t know if this occurred before or after I transferred an event ticket to my son who accepted it in his account, added to his wallet and transferred it back upon where I was able to relink my account to my wallet. His Apple ID had been attached to my TM account which was blocking mine. Either way I can now add event tickets to my wallet. Thanks everyone for the advice and input.

In checking the wallet on my Apple Watch, it looks like all my tickets are there and don't appear to be disabled. Could there be some kind of strange sync issue between watch and phone?

Though I can't imagine everyone having this problem also has an Apple Watch. The odds of that seem low to me.

Pretty much grasping at straws here trying to come up with a solution.

No it does not. You're only resetting the network settings not your entire phone.

Your phone will turn off, turn it back on, use your code to unlock it/re-activate facial recognition, and rejoin your home Wi-Fi.

I'm no Apple expert but this works.

Passes disabled hasn't been an issue for a while now. Apple hasn't issued any iOS updates past 17.5.1. Also now As well Ticketmaster doesn't give you access to your tickets right after purchasing. You have to wait till about 48 hours before the event before they can be added to your wallet.

I had the same issue and managed to resolve it with a new TM account and a new primary email on my Apple ID. Full details below:

  • I haven't purchased anything and haven't added any TM ticket to my Apple Wallet since the TM data breach last year where all TM accounts had to change their password.
  • This summer I purchased tickets to a concert but these tickets were configured as 'not transferable'.
  • These tickets were for my wife, since I couldn't transfer the tickets to her account she used my TM account on her iPhone and added those tickets to her Wallet. This somehow associated my TM account with her Apple ID.
    • There is no way to undo this association in the TM system that I'm aware of.
      • I've read in other forums that apparently you can call TM and ask that they unlink the Apple ID associated with your tickets. I haven't seen anyone claim success for this, maybe this is possible now but earlier threads I've read on this topic folks were getting no support from TM for this issue.

  • Last month I purchased tickets for 2 different events (NHL game + parking). When I tried to add these tickets to my Wallet the pass would remain in the 'pass is being activated' status for 30+ minutes and then would eventually move to pass is disabled with error 'This pass is associated with a different Apple ID. Contact Ticketmaster to resolve this issue'.
  • I contacted TM via chat and they told me this was an Apple issue and I had to contact Apple.
  • I contacted Apple and they said it's a TM issue.
  • Throughout this ordeal, I did the following troubleshooting steps, none worked. After each step I would remove the pass from my Wallet and re-add it from the TM app.
    • Updated iOS to latest 18.x version.
    • Signed out of my apple account on my phone and re-logged in.
    • Removed TM app, reinstalled, relogin into TM app.
    • Both my wife and I logged out of our Apple account on our iPhones, logged back in, uninstall / re-install TM app. Ensured no logged in session to TM via browser from anywhere.
    • Transferred tickets to my wife's account, she was able to add the tickets to her Wallet no issue (pass activated right away). Then transfer those tickets back to me. (I thought maybe this would unlink her Apple ID from my account but no luck).
  • In the end what resolved it for me was:
    • My current TM account (the one that doesn't work properly) is associated with email address: a@domain.com
    • My Apple ID is configured with email: a@domain.com
    • I created a new TM account with another email address that I own: b@domain.com
    • I modified my Apple account to change the primary email to: b@domain.com
      • This was required, if I tried to use new TM account (b@domain.com) with my Apple ID a@domain.com, the pass would completely refuse to add to the Wallet. I read somewhere that TM requires the email addresses to match to add to wallet.
      • Instructions to change primary email were found here: Change your Apple Account primary email address - Apple Support (CA)
      • I left my original email in my Apple account as a secondary email (a@domain.com). This way my Apple TV app continues to work fine with my a@domain.com email.
    • Transferred the tickets from my TM account a@domain.com to my new TM account b@domain.com.
    • Signed out of my apple account on my phone and login with the new primary email on my Apple ID (b@domain.com)
    • Uninstall / Re-install TM app, login to TM app using b@domain.com.
    • Add tickets from TM app to Wallet. For the first ticket I added I got a popup to confirm that this was getting added to Apple ID b@domain.com. I guess this is the indirect way of saying that my TM account will now be linked to the mentioned Apple ID. My pass got activated right away. I added 2nd ticket no issue and this time I did not get the popup, it added right away.

Hopefully someone from TM will take action on this particular issue since it's causing a lot of pain for a lot of people. With the significant service fees that TM charges, they should be providing better support for this.

I will the idea of creating a new Ticketmaster account with a different email thank you for that suggestion. I do have another email address that I could use. I'll post again as to whether it works for me or not. Still ridiculous that Ticketmaster has not resolved the issue, and absolutely unacceptable that their customer service - both chat/email and phone - is non-responsive, and when they do actually respond, they are completely useless. My last communication from them was on day of the event (I'd been trying for three weeks to transfer or sell tickets I had purchased but could not use) - it said they would get back to me in 24-48 hours. On the day of the event. Unbelievable. To top it off, they never communicated with me again afterward. Horrible customer service.

The Issue is that Ticketmaster has designed their system (incorrectly)to insist your TM Account email address must be the same as your Apple ID in order to successfully authenticate any tickets added to the Apple Wallet.

This is obviously not necessary with any other Company (think Credit Cards, Club Memberships, Airline Booking Passes, etc) for me at least, as they all use a different email address to my AppleID email address and there's never been an issue.

So the solution unfortunately is to:

  1. ensure your have no upcoming Ticketmaster Events.
  2. Change your Ticket Email address to be the same as your Appel ID.
  3. All Ticketmaster tix should successfully be activated when Added to the Apple Wallet.

Cheers

The other issue is the TM Transfer and Group process occasionally has errors when changing the original purchase email address to the new transferred email address.

So the initial solution unfortunately is your TM Account email needs to be the same as your Apple ID:

  1. ensure your have no upcoming Ticketmaster Events.
  2. Change your Ticket Email address to be the same as your Appel ID.
  3. All Ticketmaster tix should successfully be activated when Added to the Apple Wallet.
  4. follow the NHL etc transfer resolutions displayed previously if your TM Email address = Apple ID, but truly the issue is with Ticketmaster and they need to get off their backsides and fix the design, as it's existed for way too long.

Cheers

Unfortunately this information from Ticketmaster is absolutely useless. Sure you can remove the pass and then re-add it. Won't make a difference because the issue persists.

Under the pass it'll just say "Activating - Your pass is being activated." The pass should just pop (for lack of better word) into your wallet without this message. Based on previous experience I know that soon enough I'll get a message saying pass is disabled.

Exact same here. added to spouses phone. Including the next three concerts this year. Unfortunate but doable. One agent texted me he thought there was a procedure to disassociate or manage what appleId’s were associated with the account. the things he said were not available in any menu I had. The next rep said they had no idea what the last rep was talking about. Good luck.

Sep 28, 2023 4:37 PM in response to Brad00111

Thanks that is very helpful. My son logged on as me and added a ticket to his wallet thus linking his Apple ID. I was contemplating updating my account to him and then creating a new one for me but it sounds much simpler for him to open his own account and add a ticket to his wallet, attaching his Apple ID to the new account and freeing up mine.
