I'm getting mail addressed to ...@suddenlinkmail.com I'd never heard of them before & its not me!

I have tried and tried to block this nasty spam that started arriving that isn't my address at all. Using the filter 'Rules' in settings on mail, I try to stop mail not addressed to me. But still it keeps coming. As the first few characters in the addresses changes each time I cannot put in the whole email address into the rules. I'm now getting truck loads of horrible spam but every rule I try has no effect! Before this, I'd never heard of this email client so don't know how it's happened. I don't find any viruses on my iMac computer and have Malwarebytes running too. Is anyone able to help me stop it? Thank you.

In your Rules, whether you are filtering “from” or “addressed to,” include only the domain names, (all the characters after the @ sign). Do not include the @ sign, nor any characters before the @ sign. Those constantly change, as you’ve discovered.

I’ve created Rules with corresponding folders for the worst offenders. My Junk mailbox is relatively clean and manageable. Only messages that SpamSieve considers Junk go there. If I see some spam sender with greatly increasing frequency, then I will add a Rule and folder in iCloud Mail.

Ok, so signing into iCloud on your phone does not give you the ability to create rules, but I could do it on my iPad.

If I understand correctly it sounds like some people are getting these emails in their inbox. I am getting them in my Junk folder, but I am unable to delete them by swiping left on the email and blocking them in the drop-down

Omg! I’ve had this issue for a few months & couldn’t find any links on it. this thread only showed up for me today. I’ll be trying all of your recommendations that I haven’t yet but it’s definitely frustrating. Apple needs to come up with some sort of update or block that domain completely for everyone! Someone needs to open a class action against that company for harassment or something because it’s so annoying & I’ve contacted them multiple times to stop. I have a lot of important mail that sometimes get sent to junk but I can’t even find it when my mail is flooded by the hundreds daily by them…anyways when there is a permanent proper solution that actually works please notify me. Much appreciated

What I found is: «Original-Recipient: ***@icloud.com» So the mails are sent to my email-address which I never use! The one I use is ***@me.com. Some months ago I tried to delete ***@icloud.com but Apple told me, this is not possible. For this I should delete my Apple-ID, which is ***@me.com. Deleting the Apple-Id is like deleting all my calendar, contact, notes etc. - data, horror..! I am sure, deleting ...@icloud.com would resolve the issue. What do you think?

I was looking into switching to an iCloud address as well because some days I am getting I’ve a 100 spam emails, and I do have to go through them to make sure a real email didn’t get flagged by mistake (which did happen with two emails today)

At any rate I love my .me address and really don’t want to give it up. Apple support told me you can no longer get a .me address and it would have to be a .iCloud.

just wanted to share.

Thanks, BobNigel for pointing out my error. I stand corrected. It is true. If you don't already have a @me.com address, you can't get one. Nor can you change one you have.

Everyone now gets an @iCloud.com email address. For those of us who have been long time users of Apple email, we may also have @me.com and @mac.com email addresses. (Grandfathered)

Thanks, Now I understand where the red Delete comes from. I understand about expanding all the iCloud mailboxes in Mail on my Mac and had it setup that way when I created the new Thermomix Spam folder in my iCloud account but when I didn't see that folder on my mac I quickly created one. I may not have allowed enough time for it to happen. Anyhow I like this idea and it will help me to separate this spam from the rest. It is the bulk of my junk currently.

The newest spammer is coming in addressed to Fellow Investor (like they are my friend). The return path is e2ma.net. I have to wait and see how much junk they generate and if it is too much create another rule to capture them.

I never envisaged all this long line of chat about suddenlinkmail.com when I originated my question!!! It's incredible but glad it's helped some. What I am doing now is not opening my mail app on my iMac but rather always using iCloud mail on internet. I am hoping that the huge amounts of trash from this trashy group that's sending them won't now be filling my hard drive and so the hope is it won't be touching my actual trash. I might be wrong. And hopefully they'll get sick of sending the mail if nobody responds to it!!!

I'm 52 so unsure of some of the terminology as I'm a technological idiot ! I have issue with suddenlinkmail.com its as the suddenlinkmail.com has replaced my icloud email. I gather this it the same issue everyone else has as oppose to they are receiving email from suddenlinkmail.com ? I'm trying to work out how this is possible ? " Your" email has been been put on the dark web and some charming creator ( sarcasm) is then able to replace " your" email with that of suddenlinkmail.com? Who would do this and what is the purpose ? Harassment ? I had 224 email in my junk i only cleared my junk yesterday not all of those email were suddenlinkmail.com, a large number though, as i deleted these emails today i counted them and there were 174 so just over 50 emails weren't there so to speak. The emails that are coming into suddenlinkmail.com are sex related either one girl advertising herself or a group of girls defined by ethnicity is this the same for everyone ?

I can relate. I’m 57 and haven’t kept my with Tech since retirement.

I took a screenshot of many sudden link were in my junk, it was 308. But now sudden link has acquired a friend’Fellow Investor’. I believe it’s an iCloud issue. And, I’m not hearing anything from Apple, only unhappy Apple users. My original comment about going back to DROID has become a sudden (pun intended) reality.

I must be a complete idiot. For it seems to me Microsoft Outlook had much better customization features. The rules I make on iCloud (using Safari), do not work in the least. I read one gentleman did have success in assigning rules, however, it appears I’ve had a ‘sudden’ bout of complete stupidity. Yes, I’m getting a bit aggravated now. The best thing I can think of, ( protecting yourself), world be setting up two factor verification and changing your password under your Apple ID. There is not many more days left in which I will suffer this ordeal. I’ve dealt with these arrogant pests my entire career and it’s just not that important anymore.

I hope you find a resolution.

I’d consider that I needed to change my email address which is what I will do, I don’t really use my iCloud email so it’s not that much of an issue to me, I only need to move research over to another platform and I’m good to go. Am I understanding correctly that it’s apple that have the issues and they have somehow been hacked to get out emails? I’ve had other issues that lead to my having to change my number and thought my email had been put on the web. I still do have issues as I have sales calls for a Miss Katie B.and have had personal messages for her to. I understand this may make me sound a little paranoid but I’ve had years of unpleasant issues regarding calls/ txt and now my email.

Any luck yet? I got off the phone with apple and they were of no help. I’m getting several hundred a day that go straight to junk, but the problem is some important email at times goes to junk and now I can’t find it. I don’t know how to create rules, but I’ll learn if it’s helping now.. last I saw it wasn’t helping anyone??

I’m getting a ton to @suddenlink.. but also to gmail accounts (@gmail.com)

It seems there should be an easy way to batch block senders in your junk folder, but they said it’s not possible.. argh.. looking forward to seeing updated comments
