Backup No Longer Working Ove Xfinity Wi-Fi - Getting "Poor Network Conditions" Error Message

I can no longer backup over Xfinity Wi-Fi. I've reset the network settings, reset the modem, and even got a new Xfinity modem. I keep getting an error message saying "The last backup could not be completed because of poor network conditions". The network conditions are not poor.

I haven't seen any new comments here for a while. Well, after thinking that only my iPad Mini5 was having issues connecting, I just noticed that ALL of my Apple devices - iPhone14 Pro, 9th Gen iPad and Mini 5 are unable to download update 16.6 All have the "requires a Wi-fi connection to work" message.

Anyone have any updates or further communications with Xfinity?

I got so tired of fighting with Apple and XFinity that I took advice from this forum and split the Modem to 5 and 2.4. Everything worked fine with the WiFi on 2.4 but very slow. I also went ahead and purchased the Ethernet Lightning and C cables, also suggested here, which work faster. At least I have 2 ways to backup now. XFinity upgraded their system wiring in the neighborhood and all the problems then started. They refuse to take responsibility as they should be collaborating with Apple for a quick solution.

Not exactly, but I did do a post on the official Xfinity subreddit, which is supposedly monitored by higher level techs.

As you can see, I got a polite response from a tech, and zero posts from anyone else having this issue. So either it is not widespread or people just haven't noticed it yet.

I used the ethernet connections to download 16.6 for my iPhone 12, iPad9 and iPad10 and it worked very well. It's not a long term solution, but it's something. I was worried about my Apple Watch, but an update downloaded on its own last night.

OK! Possible solution! I just spoke with Advanced Tech Support at Xfinity (Chris, but would not give me a direct#).

He KNEW about the Apple issue and hopefully has fixed it. He said that the 6gbs frequency in the XB8 (it’s tri-frequency 2.4, 5 and 6) is causing the problem. He went into the Gateway device and turned off the radio signal for the 6g. Will let everyone know if it works the next time I do updates.

Joan did he do it behind the scenes? I

senior tech did spilt my modem / 2.4 and 5 there is a 6 but I don’t use that one - most device on 2.4

My iPad is on 2.4 - but seems I have to always do manual backup- and iCloud backups are on

my husbands iPhone 12 sound back ups - my iPhone 11 Pro did but some I had to do manually

I was able to do 16. 6 updates

Do you think we need to call directly and have them turn it off? Or if all working fine leave for now?
