No Apple ID account after Ventura Update + unable to accept iCloud terms and conditions
ISSUE: After upgrading OS to Venture, my Apple ID was not showing up in System Settings and I was unable to accept "iCloud Terms and Conditions" (which I kept getting annoying reminders for). Clicking on boxes for this was not popping up the accept menu. In System Settings, "Family" was still showing but greyed out (weird cause it showed me as Organizer).
Apple Tech support was unable to resolve this issue for me. Their suggestion was to re-install OS but I did not believe that was the right path forward. So I searched for solutions and although I saw many users with similar issues, none of the suggestions were really working:
Other users with similar issues:
- No Apple ID and blank iCloud internet acc… - Apple Community
- “New iCloud Terms & Conditions” Popup… - Apple Community
RESOLUTION - Here is what worked for me:
- I made a new admin user account on the my Mac and logged out and back in as that new user.
- I skipped most of the setup and once I was able to get to the Desktop, I opened System Settings.
- I was able to log into my Apple ID account from here.
- I was then able to accept the "iCloud Terms and Conditions" in System Settings.
- I logged out of AppleID.
- I logged out of that account on my mac.
- Then I logged back into my original account on my mac.
- I opened System Settings and noticed that the accept "iCloud Terms and Conditions" part was gone, yay no more of that getting in the way.
- A few seconds later, my Apple ID user showed up, YAY again!!
- I clicked on my Apple ID and was able to see the menu. "Family" was not greyed out any more but "Devices" was not showing anything, so I signed out and back into Apple ID and also did a reboot.
- Now my mac is showing under "Devices" in the AppleID menu and things seem to be working.
