How to fix
Found a fix on the Amazon support forum:
1) Go into the Apple TV settings,
2) go to network
3) Change configure DNS to manual
4) Enter 001001001001 under DNS. After you do this it will display as 1.1.1.1
May have to configure internet connectiona couple times and restart Apple device etc. but this just worked for me!
Don't bother; I did that and it made no difference. Was hoping they might have a better idea. Not too optimistic.

experiencing the same issue. Would have to wonder if we’re back to the time when Apple and Amazon didn’t play nice together

Amazon Prime Video no longer working on Apple TV 4k. Performed restart, updates, reset, power boot, unregister Apple device from Prime Video. Can't register or sign in to Amazon. Apple TV fails to send code.
