distorted front camera recording sound on my iphone

so i have an iphone 7, i've been using it for many years now no problems, for a while now i noticed that when i make front camera recordings using the raw camera app the sound comes out scrubby or like there is alot of background noise and my voice barely is heard, it goes to slightly normal then back to blocked / congested nose sound a few times in the recording, yet when i record on any other app like messaging apps its completely fine. i cleared all the ports with a needle and restarted my phone. what am i missing here?!
