iPhone not connecting to car via USB to play music

I got a different iPhone 13 and it is not playing music or audio in my car via USB cable. I previously had the exact same phone and it connected fine. I tried different cables, and tried resetting the settings on the phone. It will charge but not play any audio

I resolved the issue, thanks. I deleted Apple Music- and for some reason my phone wouldn’t play any audio through the car via USB. Once I redownloaded the Apple Music app I’m able to play audio now!

Hello aj1279,

Thanks for choosing the Apple Support Communities. We see you cannot play audio to your car via USB using the iPhone 13 Pro. We have a few steps that may help.

If you use CarPlay: If you need help with CarPlay - Apple Support

If you do not use CarPlay: How to connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your car - Apple Support

"Connect using USB playback

  1. Restart your device and your car.
  2. Make sure that your device is unlocked and on the Home screen.
  3. If possible, try to connect using another cable or USB port. Check the manual that came with your car to learn how to connect an Apple device.
  4. Check your charging port for any debris or damage. Make sure that your charging cable is properly inserted into the port.
  5. Update your device.
  6. Make sure that your stereo is using the latest firmware from the car manufacturer. Check your car's manual for more information.
  7. Try playing audio from a different app. If you can't play audio from a third-party app, contact the app developer for help. If you can't play audio from an Apple app, contact Apple Support."

We hope this helps.

Cheers!
