Can’t Generate App-Specific Password

Temporary fix! Use another browser. NOT SAFARI. I used Firefox and read someone using chrome

I've been stalled by this same issue for a week or two, using Chrome instead of Safari solved it.

Yes - it works in Chrome. Hilarious.

I can bypass this new "feature" by signing in with Microsoft Edge browser, and the newly generated app specific password showed immediately. :)

The suggestion to use Chrome was correct and worked for me too. Insane, but true.

Worked when generating the password from Chrome. Ironic that Safari isn't working for an Apple specific thing. Thanks for posting your solution!

Didn't work for me, but the solution is as next: login at https://appleid.apple.com/ user Chrome browser instead of Safari. Good luck!

Using Chrome worked for me - Yes, looks like a glitch in Safari.

From all accounts, this appears to be an issue introduced in the last few days. I don't see how a new software update would cause this because this is a service-side issue. This is something the corresponding team at Apple would need to fix. There are no tangible steps that can resolve this on the customer side. I also don't see how deleting passwords in Keychain would impact app-specific passwords. You shouldn't need to delete them, it's likely just a coincidence.

I hope Apple acknowledges this issue and provides a fix soon.

FRISBY’S SUGGESTION DEFINITIVELY WORKS. IF YOU USED TWO EMAILS FOR YOUR APPLE ID SWITCH THE CURRENT EMAIL TO THE OLD ONE AND EVERYTHING WILL WORK LIKE NORMAL. YOU WILL THEN GET AN 2-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION CODE WHEN YOU SIGN IN ON APPLEID.APPLE.COM TO COMPLETE THE PASSWORD GENERATION.

It’s not about the browser, it’s because you have changed your password and since then you are using biometric identification. You need to log in again to your account with your new password using “Use a different Apple ID” and it will be working.

I had the same issue & it was sooo frustrating! Read this thread & finally used Firefox because I didn't have Chrome & it worked first time! Needed to write this as people should now! Crazy apple stuff don't work on Safari! Who would have thought!

Had the same issue. Reached out to Apple Support and they were unable to help me. Using Google Chrome worked.

Switching to Google Chrome from Safari solved the problem for me!

None of the workarounds worked for me including google chrome. Solution was to generate the password on a non apple device.
