Missing or offline titles, effects, generators or media. if you continue, these items will be replaced with missing-media projects.

Why is it that before exporting my project in fcpx, I get this message: Missing or offline titles, effects, generators or media. if you continue, these items will be replaced with missing-media projects. Today after this message I just went a head and exported and there was one or two missing clips. However, when I checked the timeline, those clips were present. How can I make sure that nothing is missing when I export my project and how do I get rid of this message? Thanks a million for your time and help.

I'd recommend copying everything to an APFS or HFS+ volume, then reformatting the FAT32 and/or exFAT drives as APFS or HFS+ then copying it all back. In the process you'll gain a backup and far less risk of loosing data on the FAT32 or exFAT drives.

I have a client that despite me telling them nicely many many times, always hands me exFAT drives of footage and projects. I just copy them off to an APFS SSD, edit it all there, then copy it back to their drive and hand it back to them again with a reminder.

This is a screenshot of the message I get before importing my project. Like I said earlier, one or two video clips seemed to be missing in the last import. I import my media files by selecting FILES - IMPORT MEDIA and then sync the audio the usual way. I create new libraries and projects for every import. I have never had this problem before. What 3rd party add-ons are you referring to? I don't think I have any third party add-ons. I have Motion, Compressor and nothing else. I used 4TB external hard drives to store all my data. Please help. Thanks.

It was formatted the way you're supposed to format new external hard drives. Fat 32 or whatever. I simply googled it and did it as per the instructions. I really don't think the way the hard drive had been formatted is the issue. I am thinking of deleting preferences and starting over again. If I delete preferences will my files all be restored after I click on them in the external hard drive or is there something I have to do first?
