Had a pop up saying my phone had been ‘severely interfered with’ and to install something to fix it. Pressed install by mistake and it took me to the App Store, quickly exited the App Store before anything could be installed but can malware apps be invisible? Or would I physically see a new/unrecognised app if my phone had been compromised? These are the websites that it came from…

Malware these days requires tricking the user into clicking and installing the malware. It cannot install itself. So if you didn’t installing anytime you’re good. There are no known viruses for the iPhone and an iPhone cannot be hacked unless the user intentionally removes security measures by ‘jailbreaking’ their iPhone.

Any such pop-up, ad or message is a scam designed to scare you into downloading useless software.

Never click on any such link, to stop seeing such things install an ad blocker.

The link took you to the Apple Appstore so you could download the software. As long as you didn't click on the download button in the Appstore nothing was downloaded.

Also anything downloaded from the official Apple Appstore is not malware. It may be useless overpriced garbage but it's not malicious garbage.

This is a well known scam that is trying to trick you into buying useless software that will do nothing to help your phone, or worse......trick you into providing personal information to the scammers so they can get into your personal data.

NEVER click or tap on a link in a message like this. Delete the message and move on.
