My phone was flashing the apple sign. I have restarted it a few times and the restore screen still appears. I don't know what to do next.

my phone had a very dim screen even with brightness being adjusted. I went to a T-Mobile store and they said it was a back light issue. I have yet to get it fixed. Then about an hour ago my phone died and instead of turning on the Apple logo just flashed. I did the steps to restart and connected it to my Mac and it still has the restore screen.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.5

Hello,

It sounds like you're unable to restore your device. I've included links and steps that should help you resolve that issue.

If the Restore screen appears on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

If the Restore screen still appears after you restart

If the Restore screen still appears after you restart, you need to reinstall iOS or iPadOS:

  1. On your Mac, make sure that you've installed the latest software updates (including iTunes if you have MacOS Mojave or earlier). Or on your Windows PC, make sure that you've installed the latest version of iTunes.
  2. Make sure that your device is still connected to your computer. A "There's a problem with the [your device name] that requires it to be updated or restored" message should appear.
  3. Click Update (not Restore) to reinstall iOS or iPadOS and keep your personal data. Don't disconnect your device from your computer until the update finishes.

Hope this helps.

You are welcome.

Troubleshooting 4013:

This is all about an Update error and having continuous error connecting to Apple's servers.

So, you need to contact Apple Support:

  1. Go here: If you See Error 9, 4005, 4013, or 4014 when you Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
  2. As it Reads: "If you continue to see error 9, 4005, 4013, or 4014 when you try to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, contact us."

Seems you're stuck a boot loop after a failed iOS update...

Troubleshooting Failed Updates:

A. Why the Issue?

You lost connection to Apple's server. Perhaps Wi-Fi dropped? Or, perhaps there was too much data being swollen up on your part while connecting to a Public LAN(i.e. at a Library or a Campground)? Or, perhaps there is utility work down the street.

B. Getting Out of a Boot Loop:

Is your iPhone stuck in a Boot Loop? When this update installation stalls while in the process, this can result in your iPhone being in a Boot LoopSo, refer to my user tip: How to Fix an iPhone in a Boot Loop - User Tip

Update Using a Computer:

Have a Computer Handy? If so, try using a computer to update. Go here: Update your iPhone Using a Computer - User Tip. If any updates are availabe, they will install, sure enough.
