iPhone message sound doesn’t match the setting
I’m using an iPhone 14 Pro Max, version iOS 16.6.
For years I’ve had a custom ringtone and custom notification sound for messages. I’ve noticed over the last few days my notifications “Text Tone” for messages plays a standard iPhone “popcorn” alert, even though in my settings (Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Text Tone), my custom sound is selected. I’ve also gone into the settings for Messages (Settings > Message > Notifications > Sounds) and confirmed the custom sound is selected there as well.
Another interesting factor….when wearing my AirPods (2nd Gen), and a text comes in, I hear the custom sound!
Ive tried:
- restarting the phone
- selecting a new tone, restarting, and then reselecting my old custom sound and restarting again
- redownloading my custom sound
My kids recently on their iPads (all signed into my own Apple ID) started using iMessage linked to their emails, and I’ve noticed that one kid had their alert set to Popcorn….I don’t know how that would affect my iPhone, but if it has how do I change it back!?
